hello sifus..
as you guys suggested before, i use one co2 tablet everyday instead of half, but the tablets left white residue. currently working on diy co2 smile.gif to replace the tablets. lfs selling glass diffuser for rm30, gonna get that. plants are growing ok i guess
looking for new light tubes then can plant more hc/hairgrass.
but now theres this white slimy/hairy thingy starts to appear all over.

what is it? how can i remove it? currently just siphon it out during water change but it keep coming back.

as for the light, the closest lfs here doesnt have higher watt light thats compatible to mine, this is what i have
11w aqua zonic (black)
8w (no brand, white)

i will go and check at east aqua ikano, close to where i work. i have no idea what these light tubes are called, anyone can tell me so its easier to find/ask the shop.

i had 2 cherry shrimp, one dead straightaway become meal to the fish. few days after that, the other one dead. should i remove or just leave it there for the fish?
i have one badis badis, was doing fine for a week, now look very sick and about to die also i assume.. sad.gif
now just left with 2 pink fish, forgot the name.

the sad tank. 23 liter, 11w+8w light 10hours, 1 co2 tablet daily, temp 26, 2 x 30% water change weekly, no other chemicals except antichlorine.

white stuff i dunno whats that. do u have good water circulation in ur tank? just suck them up slowly during next wc i guess..

for the lights, our friend fongzai are using them. the one u hold. its cheap. can buy from any electrical store. its good. get a reflector and buy another 2 of those lightsets and stick them all in the reflector.

dont start with any shrimps yet. stil not stable enough. if u want fish then u can add them.

the last pic is after 5weeks? no growth? better get ur co2 up and running. diy is cheap. make sure u read up on diy co2 and research on how to do it.
or get a co2tank for about rm200 lol

for the first few weeks 2 wc per week is good so no worries. from now on just do wc per week.

how do u define a good circulation?
the hob is rated 500l/h, previously at the back now i moved it to the side. looks like it circulates better, can see small dead leaves moving around he tank haha.

first two weeks, no co2, plants turn brown, stop growing. no algae.
then start using co2 tablet, added the aqua zonic 11w light, plants look better somewhat more green, but the white thigy starts to show up.

the 8w light is kinda purple-ish, 11w is white, is it enough? i want to change the 8w purple light to brighter one.

no budget for co2 tank. gonna settle for diy now.

yeah, no shrimp for now, just 2 pink fish until everything sorted out.

should i use fertilizer?

maybe get another 11w lightset? that set would cost rm12 i think. get another and i think itll be enough.

good circulation as in good water flow in the tank.

the white stuff. the only thing u can do is manually removing them. i think dis all happens becoz of unpure co2

IMO I think your light is not bright enough. And second your plants are too few and sparse, my suggestion buy a bunch and let it grow and trim. IMO it's best to cover at least 30-40 percent of your tank.

My plants must have gotten used to the water condition and it's growing new branches.

And my plants are surviving on Co2 tablets only.

At the moment, I throw in once a day and on my light for 6-8 hours a day evening till morning about 1-2am.

FYI I don't change the water so often because mine is 2 1/2 feet tank.

I change about 20 days once.

Last time I have small tank, every week I change once.

I gave up on shrimp for now.
Very hard to rear with fishes.
shrimps are so defenseless.

Initially mine survived for couple of weeks (3 WEEKS!).

Fishes didn't bother them but once some female got pregnant and I notice red tetras are damn
aggressive, very hard for them to survive in my tank.

i saw the fishes tear it apart like how we eat butter prawn, lulz.

Ocean Free. Maybe you shouldn't try to change water too frequent.

Get more plants!

and Oh yeah try this.

Get liquid fertilizer.

Even my lily pads which I gave up, has sprung 2 new little branch.
