The name of this studio is 'The Jam Studio' (branch of the PJ one), tel : 56217621

Actually the place is rather old with 2nd or 3rd hand eq....they have 2 rooms there, the bigger one is rm25 n they provide FX pedals that work sometimes, drums come with extra baby cymbals, bass drum is single. The other room is around rm20, but it's long instead of square, so its abit crammed. Basic setup, better 2 bring ur own guitars cool.gif

Air-cond is ok, non-smoking, and pretty convenient for subang ppl...if u need landmarks it's near the row of cybercafes, opposite darusalam mamak.

Have fun laugh.gif

Well, the main reason this topic was created is to help musicians to find Jamming/Recording Studios. As LowYat.Net member comes from all walks of life, some even from overseas, it doesn't mean only studios in the Klang Valley are allowed to be posted here.

I'm sure there are musicians from Penang who needs these services. So you can help them by posting any studios you find in Penang.

I'm a malaccan.
I've a friend, Steven of Sparkles jamming studio.
He told me he USED to do recordings for bands, but I never enquired further la. Now not sure if he does recordings but definitely jamming.

Anyway, among there are only 2 jamming studios in malacca that gempak giler, let's skip those chapalng crap first.

1. ICE Jamming Studio. Beside Makhota. Same row as Klan Concept Store. Beside Sri Costa hotel. Face Sri Costa entrance, and look left. Walk 50 steps and you're there. Owner's ICE Tan, has long hair and weird specs.

He has Tama drums and Pearl drums. One room has a Paiste Rude ride cymbal and mostly Headliner cymbals and hi-hats. The drums sound great. Tuned by Malacca's best drummer,Gene. (everyone agrees, Gene VS Rudy of Pop Shuvit, I'll put EVERYTHING on Gene.) You donnit to worry about the sound, they mostly sound good, unless you decide to mess up the snare.
Dunno what guitars la... Three rooms. The rooms are okay, sized. But the aisle is as narrow as my 7A drumsticks.
One word, please if you enter at 10.10PM, get out at 11.10PM. Don't wait till he asks you to get out.
RM25 per hour. Get his trust and respect, you'll get RM20. Hard though.

2. Sparkles Jamming Studio. Currently at the same row as Bei Zhan restraunt. U go Makhota? Then down the bridge and go straight on. You'll see Harbour Club. Turn left and keep an eye on the left. It's just opposite the apartments. Stand at the traffic light nearest to Harbour club and walk 100 steps left. They use Tama Rockstar and Tama Swingstar guitars. Soon to get a Pearl Forum. All cymbals are of Paiste 101 and 501. The drumheads are farked, but he says he's replacing them.
RM25
BUT they will be shifting soon, to the one near Senyum.
It's above a Yong Tau Foo shop. And behind, you can see the Digi centre.
The owner drives a blue Honda City with a huge spoiler. Name's Steven(DoH!)

Anyway, there are other less famous jamming studios in Malacca.
There's one called Alert Cart behind ICE jamming studio. Shit sucks, don't even have a bloody throne and make us sit on broken plastic chairs. Ass hurts like hell.
There's one, same row with Supersonic. Supersonic's not a jammingstudio, it's a music store. The best music store in Malaaca? Sure!
There's also one near MMU. It's near the dunno wat college. Same area as US Pizza.

Anyway, the owner of Supersonic's gonna open a jamming studio too. He hasn't revealed where, but you'll have cafe downstairs, TV in the studio, air-cond with a warm ambience, Pearl Forum drums and dunno what Marshall and what amp. (Heck, expensive shit. Owner of music shop waD~!?) Sounds like good shit.

Wassupp! If you're anywhere around Serdang there's a very spacious studio called Eruption which I like to go to. The "Reception" area is a bit dodgy but the studio is really spacious and the drum is on a higher platform. AND.. its gor a zebra fur carpet thingy for the vocalist... Glam or What!!?

Can't remember the number cuz my bassist does all the bookings. if u want, ask lorr..

btw Akar Karya is and will always be the besh.. but only studio 1 and 2 notworthy.gif

Xcess in Ampang is not bad too meh?

hehhe.. Sparkless jamming studio .. just jam there yesterday, at their new location. actually is not open to public yet. Cause there is still some setting not yet done. But i know the boss steven for almost 10 years, study together last time, so he let me jam, i be the 1st band that jam at there.

Location as you said, inside got 3 room now, almost all new equipment ! TAMA, pearl, Fender, Ibanez, Zildjian... and the room is huge, remember the big room of old sparkless? is bigger than that.. heheh.. now he charging 25 for big room and 20 for small room.

yep.. steven did recording for bands, then he even help them to send to label at KL. he almost have a band that publish CD last time, but there was some delay over it. If anyone of u been to "Xuan" cafe at saturday, steven is the lead guitarist there. Oh ya .. hehe his blue city .. nice ahh .. so far he havent touch engine yet.. haha .. only out look ..

by now, the new sparkless (not using the name "sparkless" anymore, maybe its "Xuan jamming studio" ) is the best studio at malacca (IMHO), not because his my long time friend. everyone in malacca should go and try, if any suggestion or complaint, please let me know also, then i'll tell him thumbup.gif

ICE studio was not bad, but sadly the equipment was not maintain, that day i went, the middle room cymbal was pecah.. a 8 inch crack that makes the cymbal looks like two. But the guitar amp was cool, loud and clear.. the only bad thing is the room is abit small ..

there is another near ICE studio, if you come from century mahkota hotel, before u turn right to ICE studio, u turn to left (near the new shoplot of ING insurance). at the 1st corner shop, the highest floor, 3rd. This studio call MAMA jammer room, equipment inside not bad, not new but not too old.

btw, pizzaboy what u play ? drum ? do u have a band? my band is looking for a bassist, anyone ? hehehe .. thanks ! notworthy.gif

Arrr... Black Widow. Used to go there frequently as my school's just few hundred steps away. That place brings back loads of memories lar hah, some I wouldn't want to remember too lol!

Well, now that we can drive, Black Widow's an extreme no-no in our list. sweat.gif

ha-ha so true.. Thats the thing with jam studio.. after a year or two their equipment goes kaput and people find new studios to go to.. :'(

its a really risky business.. I think you need quite a lot of studios per outlet to actually make it in the business. Take AkarKarya for example. 3 huge ones

The problem is that some ppl don't take care of the equipments!!! Black Widow has one whole rack of pedals and some of them are badly stomped on!!! WTF man?! I understand that those pedals could be 8-10 yrs old, but we're talking about BOSS PEDALS, which are supposed to built like tanks!!! Stomp oso stomp nicely lar, don't kick it!

Some ppl... sweat.gif unsure.gif

gizmoduck, please don't create a "thread" within another thread.

Talking about your "PERFECT JAMMING STUDIO" can be done at this thread Your Dream setup, if infinite budget:

Both topics are the same right ?
