QUOTE(janov @ Jan 4 2011, 12:35 PM)
Hi All, a belated Xmas and New Year. Been away from the Forum for more than a month and now its V11. think i left off at V8, went through a bit of V9 and then straight jump into V11. this thread has been moving so fast, i remember it used to be behind Desire but now, way ahead.

anyway, its good to see most of the old faces still around, KMRDeva, Jujx, Hihehihe (our honourable thread starter), Ken, |Kee| (not sure if ur the same person, last i remember u had an avatar of guy holding a camera taking photo now its a pic of a Hot Jap Chick Playing Lucky Ball, hope you wont become |Angry Girl| though tongue.gif, lch78 (my fav angry bird is also the black one....BOOM!!) and of cos the famous holy predator despite of so many complaints about SGS but still loyal to the phone.

ok, i noticed battery issues have been the major setback of this phone (but i think it applies to most smart phone). im not sure if this was brought up before but modifying roms will only bring you that far in terms of improvement. whatever it is, u still have 1500mah under the hood. roms will only allocate the usage of the battery to different hardware segements of the phone which is of cos linked to certain function of the phone and apps.

my question is, have anyone tried increasing the battery capacity, found one interesting battery replacement which could give the phone more power.

http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/mugen...axys-i9000.html

watch the video, quite interesting, really curious how the extended casing will look like. anyone here tried before? but if you dont want to use extended cover, then there is also a 1600mah version which only costs around RM100.

i think the 3200mah will be quite an overkill but you might only need to charge every 2-3days, very useful if you travel a lot. hope to hear some feedback on this. i might want to get one once the current one starts to show a downtrend performance. or perhaps Samsung could just come up with a upgrade version of the battery; same size but maybe 1700mah or 1800mah. i believe the additional capacity will go a long way in helping prolong usage. but of cos, playing around with custom roms is still fun wink.gif

by the way, i was away mostly travelling in Thailand, rode from south all the way to north to the border of myanmar, was really fun and gps function was working, it showed the right location though i didnt check until accuracy of <500m. whatever it is, experienced road travellers dont use GPS, u either use a proper road map or common sense cos the GPS can sometimes give u the wrong way or the long way, just my 2cent.
*
hmm.gif I have been planning to get a spare battery or an external mili power pack for travelling later. But this mugen power costs 3 times more.... shocking.gif

QUOTE(janov @ Jan 4 2011, 01:00 PM)
got other brands that have extended 3200mah battery like mugen? how did you compare 3x? for the 1600mah version only works out to about RM100 and i believe an original Samsung 1500mah costs around there, no?
*
Just a rough estimation. The mugen website shows it cost USD96.95 w/o shipping. And an extra battery cost RM100++, so plus or minus... smile.gif

I think @kmdeva got bought another battery 1800mah and I remember he mentions it is only slightly better longer lasting than current samsung batt??

I bought myself a 1800mah clone batt from a China e-commerce site, aliexpress.com, I think it was. Same size as the stock 1500mah and works just as well (for now). Got it for USD9.99 plus shipping.

The same site also lists a number of 3000mah and 3200mah and even 3500mah batts with extra fat back covers for sale.. Less than USD15 too.

Carrying 2 batts fully charged (one active one standby) has been a life-saver for me. smile.gif

Miss your post just now.. tongue.gif Want to ask, you bought from ebay?

No idea how symbian works. Maybe others can help you. But I figure that if you can sync your symbian contacts to gmail, you can sync gmail back to your SGS.

I am not sure how Pandora radio works. But I found a good internet radio app called Tunein. Have international radio stations as well as local radio stations (not all).

Hey guys, I found a better browser, probably the best one I've tested so far. Tabbing is easy, play flash, smooth (smoother than stock), fast (really fast) and cool (something like chrome browser). You guys probably want to check it out... It is called miren browser.

btw, i'm new to android world  blush.gif

Just get one. Don't wait. Otherwise you will forever waiting for the better phones, and there is no such thing as better phone in relation to time.

Is just like you driving on the road, there will always be a car in front of you.....

Have you tried Dolphin Browser Mini? how is it compared to Miren?

I used Dolphin Brower HD before...a bit laggy. Currently using the Dolphin Browser Mini....seems faster.

I will check out Miren too.

Thanks
*
Yep. Dolphin HD is laggy. Dolphin mini is fast too but I don't like the gesture control thing.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Ease of use wise, I find Miren is better than Dolphin Mini.
