Neway, sometime it's really fun and satisfactory when u against 6 stars CPU... there's another time when I'm against 'sandwiching players' laugh.gif ... Eto received a pass from Steven Gerrard outside the penalty box and straight away drive the ball in getting away from 1 of the 4 'sandwiching' defenders... then another defender join the 'sandwiching' from the side thus making 4 players 'sandwiching' again... but Eto drive inward summore and the shot thru the defenders and the GK failed to save it... GOOOOAAALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Wahaha... it's really fun and high satisfactory when u against CPU players that as if they took drugs already... performing extremely unusual tongue.gif

QUOTE(jiwa @ Jan 4 2006, 02:03 PM)
He.he.he.he whistling.gif Don't play on 6* my friend. Make you sick. Honestly, sometimes I even find 5* terribily irritating. Most of you all ML kaki's would have experienced this by now. You'd be winning a few games on the trot and suddenly your teams performance declines. Your players seem out of sorts, can't string passess together, are woeful infront of goal and you defenders left their brains in the dressing room.
You'd struggle like this for a few matches before things are back to normal again.

A tip to anyone: Use the 1st touch moves intelligently (but not all the time) It makes a big difference if use use/don't use it at the right moment. Even a miscontrolled ball can be turned into an advantage and wrong foot the defender.

Cheers all.
*
Well, already get used to 6* ... always like FAIR play vs UNFAIR play laugh.gif

Yupz, I did experienced like what u said too... sometime ur team will sky rocket their performance and then sometime will go down low low till even weak team also difficult to play against with. This applies to the players too as well, not only the whole team effect all da time. But I take these as those 'time' where u'll need extra concentration and also determination to score and win in the match.. but it really generate frustration sometime shakehead.gif

QUOTE(alienLYN @ Jan 4 2006, 08:24 PM)
i'm currently using Man Utd in Master League. Is it normal for players stamina to get really low during mid season?

its like all of my 1st team players usually have their stamina at half even before the match starts. Players like Rooney, Nistelrooy and esp Ronaldo. Luckily, in master league there's the mid season break... else... players all sure die of exhaustion  tongue.gif
*
During mid season, there's a lot more matches (league + cups) and mostly filled up each week with 2 matches thus making ur players getting more fatigue if u keep on playing them all da time. So what I do is always rotate the players during that period and kept my eyes on their fatigue level (the bar below their stamina bar). Players like Steven Gerrard and Park Ji Sung slowly collect and quickly heal their fatigue bar, but others like Arjen Robben and Ronaldo quickly fill them up. Just rotate them with their substitutes when u see the fatigue bar filling up, unless u really need them for big matches. For that reason, the calendar is useful for u to see which big teams are on their way. Plan ur rotation by then wink.gif

QUOTE(alienLYN @ Jan 4 2006, 09:56 PM)
That's freaking amazingly true shakehead.gif

Every season... few matches before playing Chelsea, i will be winning few matches on the trot. And the climax will be againts Chelsea where i surprisingly usually trash them(happens every season) 4-0, 5-0.

Then somehow like some magical curse or sumtin bestow upon me, i would like draw/lose the next few matches. Just like the Man Utd last season... shots on goal like 15-20, but cant score  doh.gif
*
In my league, Chelsea is really solid strong at the beginning of the season. So far lost only 2 games (including losing 1 game to me tongue.gif) and draw none. I'm ranked 3rd and trailing 3 points behind them with 3 draws and 2 lost while Arsenal ahead of me. My key player Gerrard and Henry started to degrade and further blow when Henry is out for 11 weeks (u'll know if u got read my ML's story I posted here). Now I'm preying on Eto, Cisse, Ronaldo and Van Persie up front to do the magic.

All their performance really up and down thus making me difficult to pick the selection each time. Ronaldo who started to degrade suddenly scored a hattrick against tough team Barca. Eto been showing poor performance but lately getting his name on the score sheet, this applies to Cisse as well. Van Persie in the other way make me feel he's like another 'Raul' to me. Slow and weak but able to hit on target sometime. He's my bet when Ronaldo and Henry retired or totally out of form. But when all of them out of form, it's even difficult to get them receive the pass doh.gif . Gotta secure some forwards during the upcoming transfer window nod.gif

@jiwa

Actually I had tried to search for Schwarz but if not mistaken it didnt come back with any result sweat.gif ... would u mind to tell which team they're in as perhaps in my differently patched WE9 got different name? unsure.gif Will then put myself to check on Babel, thankx for ur recommendation. It crack my head to find for players sweat.gif

Yupz, as u mentioned.. certain players really fill their fatigue gauge at an extreme rate.. just like my young Arjen Robben doh.gif ... at certain times need to rest him for 2 weeks just to regain from fatigue he accumulated in 1 week shakehead.gif ... Both Robben and Reyes also playing good as ST, but Robben got better passing and also reaction with fast pace (not according to stats as I seldom check on it but it's based on my experience with that player). U can feel there's like a 'flexibility' when controlling him than Reyes. Reyes in the other way is better in dogfight and tough game, also he's less getting injured than Robben.

Yaya.. sometimes I also feel weird with the GKs. At certain time they even faster lost their stamina while in the game compared to my other players sweat.gif ... even in game which opponent poorly doing attacking shocking.gif

Schwarz and Babel are both AI generated fictional players. They are usually found in the newcomers section. What season of ML are you in. Schwarz appears after season 2, and babel 1 season after(i think). If ur in Season 5-6 these guys may have been signed by other CPU controlled teams.

Cheers.

Argh... I'm in my 5th season now with Real Madrid doh.gif ... neway, I got a lot of cash to spare tongue.gif ... As always, after played a few seasons I would have a lot of cash in hand. But up to certain extent, Konami did like used 'cheat' to make us not to win every of the match and also league/cup easily... it's good also although seem like FAIR play vs UNFAIR play... coz I remember when I was playing WE7I and that time only 5* the hardest difficulty level... I won each match easily till I had accumulated a lot of cash enough to buy some great players and then trade it with those cheap players from the clubs in my league to make it even more competitive sweat.gif ... but well, after a season of two they would drop them coz couldn't pay their salaries doh.gif

Yeah, my newest round of ML, just on season 3 now. Already got 80K++ with salary only 20K/season.(5*).

Yeah I guess, the game is too easy when it come to negotiations, as there and no other expeses to pay other than salaries. Iw ould rather the game allow you to hire/pay for non playing satff like cocahes and physios too. And implement things like goal/assist bonus payments to players.

Right now after 5 season you're almost untouchable if you use 'matchmode'.

Only way is to start ML on 5*, with default (konami) team or custom team, and set low staring WEN/PES.

That way will struggle to get out of div2 for a few seasons until you build up a good team, after that, I guess it'll be the same.

Cheers.
*
Yeaps... but still it's better compared to WE7 series... the player or club for sure will agree for the transfer if the offer above the player's value sweat.gif ... but since WE8 and above, it's not that easy anymore wink.gif . Hehe, it sounds like u wanna mix WE & Football Manager game brows.gif ... It would be hell a lot of fun and confusing then laugh.gif

Just played a few matches yesterday and oh my god ohmy.gif ... First my Robben is out for 4 weeks and then my Chivu is out for 7 weeks doh.gif ... Now both of them added to the injury list together with Henry sweat.gif ... In the league draw against Man. United thus expanding the distance to 5 points from the league leader, Chelsea. Lucky the next match against Bolton scored 2 late goals on 89th and 90th+ minute or else the distance will be further away shakehead.gif

Heh, guess what... in Champion League qualifying I met Babel as substitute for Ajax team biggrin.gif ... barely noticed his performance because kena pressure much from Real Madrid tongue.gif ... but still only 1-0 win and Babel hit the shot wide in the final minutes. Also in Champion League qualifying, Real meet Arsenal for the 3rd time this season (1st was league game, 2nd also CL qualifying). Having a tough time with them but Reyes scored the 1st goal on 71st minute. However, Arsenal's Kaka cancelled the goal on 81st minute and Reyes once again scored in the final minutes to make it 2-1 win over Arsenal nod.gif

*negotiation period is just 1 match away*

After 8 years of playing the series, I finally scored > 1 FK in a game.notworthy.gif (bear in mind my success rate from direct FK was only about 1/100). After mths of practice I think I finally got the feel right. Socred 3 in a game (5*) against Dinamo Kiev, with a final socre of 8-2 (also my record as highest score in 5* ML).

Took the lead, 1-0 with diving header by Lamps at near post of a J.Cole corner. Conceded 2 gaols quickly after that, both thru defensive lapses and allowing CPU to get onto thru balls.

2nd half got apenalty for a trip on Torres inside the box. After that it was the J.Cole show. whistling.gif Scored 3/5 freekicks. (note I use J.cole, because I feel Lamps power is too much, therefore harder to control the FK). In-between Torres got 2 goals too.

There's a sense of acheivement I'm feeling ,bcos converting freekicks was the only area I felt I hadn't mastered yet in the series. thumbup.gif

Cheers.  biggrin.gif

That's great buddy nod.gif . It been a while since I last scored 8 or 9 goals in a game ever since I left 3* tongue.gif ... The most if not mistaken only 5 or 6 goals in a game (@ 6*). Then for scoring from FK, the most I did only double in a game. Kena tiang got la... 3 times in a game laugh.gif . Didnt make it for triple before like u did notworthy.gif . However, my furthest freekick I scored was 38m or 42m... forgot the exact number sweat.gif

Dude, u got F. Torres in ur team? How's his performance? Coz I had been thinking of dropping one of mine for him tongue.gif

Negotiation period already over. Already sold Gravesen out. Take in Babel and also Hunt. Really dun hav Schwarz sweat.gif ... Heh, Hunt is pretty good as SB and he's my 1st selection now and let Chivu sit on the bench for a while. Further on observing his performance smile.gif . As for Babel, played him as substitute in a few league games and first selection in cup games (since Henry is out also sweat.gif). He perform pretty well, but yet failed to find his first goal although a few excellent shots on goal. Still young and new with the team, perhaps need a bit of training will do tongue.gif

QUOTE(jiwa @ Feb 6 2006, 03:40 PM)
Ha.ha. Now we go into advanced territory eh..!! There is a difference. The sooner you press x, the faster it dips. However dipping fast is not always the desired outcome. Sometimes an otherwise excellent freekick will be spoilt by dipping too soon. I usually delay a bit until the ball is near the wall, then press X. But either technique works.

The amount of dip varies from player to player. So for some, you have to hold a long timee, and for others just 1/4 sec or so.

Cheers.

OMG~!!! I didnt went into so detailed controls before shakehead.gif ... Gotta admit Pro Player Jiwa really --> notworthy.gif

Frankly, I didnt know pressing 'x' after execution will hav such 'effect' sweat.gif ... It's the same to corner kicks or any other kicks as well... wouldn't ya mind to tell how did ya figured it out? sweat.gif

Again like Jiwa said, human is no-no compareable to CPU... CPU is dead while human is alive nod.gif ... Even a newbie player who know only 50% of the controls is much tougher than 6* CPU sweat.gif

Thankx to terranova's info I already dump my previous own-mixed-patched version and now playing this WEndettaLAB2.0 patch liao tongue.gif ... it's much better than the previous patches that I had tried before drool.gif

Most probably gonna start a new ML's story soon but this time with Liverpool instead of Real Madrid as I usually played nod.gif

Okiez... restarted my game in WE but this time with WEndettaLAB2.0 patch and also WEndettaLAB2.0 Option File thumbup.gif (special thankx to terranova for notifying notworthy.gif)

Unlocked all the Under 21's teams and also 6* difficulty. Still thinking whether to unlock the legendary players as well... but it just make Master League (ML) not that fun with those players along tongue.gif (IMHO la... laugh.gif)

This time around as I mentioned earlier, I started ML with Default Match Mode and selected Liverpool playing in League A with all English Premier League's teams.

Liverpool's default formation with Cisse playing as CF down on the left, Crouch as CF in the centre and two SMFs Kewell and Luis Garcia at both sides. This formation didnt match my playing style which I prefered the most tongue.gif . Reconstructed the formation as it then similiar to the previous one I used with Real's in my previous ML Story.

Started the ML at 5* difficulty and it seem a having a little bit of setback at the beginning with a draw and a lost due to formation testing as I'm switching and testing the players with different formation. Thing started to get better when a 1-0 won at the 3rd game of the Division2 (D2) league.

First time experiencing with Liverpool's players, the forwards really kinda bad sweat.gif ... with the option of Crouch, Cisse, Fowler and Morientes... my best picks are Cisse and Morientes. I just couldn't get myself 'clicked' with Fowler and also Crouch is nothing better other than tall. He's slow and yet easily been pushed away by the defenders when he get the ball under his foot. Even he's did some good penetration on the defense, but then again he easily get knocked away and the chance gone (Sorry to u... Crouch sad.gif).

The 2 CFs re-located them back to the middle in front of the opponent's goal and moved Kewell up ahead from his default position playing as ST. The rest didnt change much except moving Gerrard a bit topper and Xabi Alonso a bit lower. The defenders taking rotation and Reina a pretty good GK nod.gif

Yet still fatigue accumulated pretty fast shocking.gif ... and forwards couldn't get their names on the score sheet shakehead.gif . Having some tough time but when 1st negotation period arrive, traded 4 players away:

Hamann (CMF) ---> Arsenal for Reyes (ST) drool.gif
Fowler (CF) ---> Arsenal for Van Persie (ST) thumbup.gif
Warnock (SB) ---> Manchester United for Park Ji Sung (CMF) brows.gif *cheap but good player*
Carson (GK) ---> ????? for Marshall (GK) tongue.gif

*dang! I'm just selecting good players which I experienced before back in previous ML biggrin.gif*

Crouch been dropped from the first lineup for Van Persie partnering with Cisse. Kewell and Xabi Alonso taking rotation with Reyes and Park Ji Sung. And boo~hoo! The team overall performance increased immediately after the negotiation period bombing Thul with 6-0 won and then followed by 4-0 and 3-0 won over the other teams in D2 league thumbup.gif . Both Van Persie and S. Gerrard immediately get their ranks to the top on WEFA Best Players with rating over 7.0 biggrin.gif. During the next period of negotiation will be looking for some CBs and SBs depending on my 'cash' smile.gif

That's all for this time... and I just wonder if got ppl interested to read and share theirs laugh.gif

Haha... thankx to Mr. Jiwa, I also mastered the 'art of taking freekicks' notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

I didnt know there's a big effect taking freekicks in the way u mentioned and I kept on stick to the style which I used since WE7 tongue.gif ... What a day when Gerrard scored 2 freekicks from range <25m within 4 minutes for a 2-0 win thumbup.gif

Another tips I must add that is 'YOU must get the FEEL of how much power to POUR IN and when to hit the 'X' factor' tongue.gif laugh.gif

*sigh*

Well, I'm still playing WE9 all the while but only less than usual already as pile of office's load, college's assignments and exams on all my way shakehead.gif ... Been having stress and tiredness... so extra time I ZZZzzz sweat.gif

Just struggled over my 2nd season with Liverpool in the Division1 and finished 6th in the league (the final spot for Champions League Qualifying doh.gif) and grabbed the Division1 Cup from Chelsea with a narrow 1-0 win as substitute Michael Owen (yeah, he's back at Liverpool in MY STORY biggrin.gif) scored on the 10th minute in the first Extra Time. Phews~!

Again, Gerrard voted as the OVERALL BEST PLAYER AWARD for both Division1 League and also Division1 Cup. Went thru the negotiation period.. secured the service of Hunt [SB] and traded Finnan for Ashley Cole [SB].

Hm... I had been shuffling my formation for a few times to get the one that most players will get clicked with. It seem like I had 'widen' the range too big till the passes seem difficult to get it worked flawlessly. Always get intercepted or being too slow doh.gif . My forwards; Van Persie, Owen, Cisse, Morientes and Babel yet finding it's difficult to get their name on the scoresheet. Most of the goals came from the midfields rather the tops. Their performance really up and down which then it makes me difficult to select who and who for the starting lineup and also who and who to preserve for big matchie.

My midfields been strong with keyplayer and captain Steven Gerrard, Park Ji Sung, Xabi Alonso, Sissoko and C. Ronaldo. Luis Garcia and Kewell can be playing in the midfield too as they usually slot in for right midfielder or 'Second Top' smile.gif . Defense been really terrible at first with slow paced Hyppia and not-so-in-form Carra. Both Finnan and D. Traore performing well, but didnt meet my expectation sad.gif . Thus, my defense lineup been changed to Hunt, Ashley Cole for SBs and Kompany, Sergio Ramos for CBs. Rotation along with Carra, Agger, Kronkramp and Risse. My 1st choice GK now is Marshall and Reina as 2nd tongue.gif .

Played first 3 matches in the Division1 League and against 2 giants; Chelsea and Manchester United. Babel scored the 2 destructive goals each in the 1st and 2nd half against Chelsea that made it 2-0 win leaving them dropped till 8th rank of the league standings. Steven Gerrard first scored in the match against the Devils but Nistelrooy cancelled it up with a brilliant header in 2nd half stoppage time and made it 1-1 draw.

That's all for this time wink.gif

wow... so quiet dis thread dis days  tongue.gif

anyway, im playing ML wif 6 stars and i have a darn frustrating dilemma as in why the heck is my team stamina so low aft every match??  mad.gif

Im now selecting C for zone press and counter attacking to compensate for my lost in stamina.  sad.gif  Its really disheartening to see GK's stamina turning red(makes no sense). My Forwards(RVN, Saha) and midfielders(Ronaldo, Giggs) are usually dead tired aft a match. Thus i usually need to rest before an important match. The funny things is, no one i know has this problem. Anyone care to clarify?
thanks  rclxms.gif

I'm still playing WE9 and haven't make my move to WE10 yet tongue.gif ... my 4th season with Liverpool and going to secure the TREBLE soon biggrin.gif ... hopefully laugh.gif

It's normal and I'm facing the same thing too. But glady I had a big team enough for me to rotate the players. Players need some rest too, just like how they're in reality nod.gif . The amount of concentration a player put in the match is really at some level that you couldn't even imaginate it. If u r playing 2 matches in a week (league and cup), definitely the green bar will fall and fatigue bar will increase quicker.

My advise is, try to monitor ur players and their stats. Those with higher stamina tend to heal quickly and last longer (their fatigue bar hardly increase) after match. Seem like u r using Man U and u can see Rooney's stamina for example wink.gif . Others like Giggs definitely get some fatigue after match. Try to get more players into ur team and play rotation among ur players. Rest those good ones if u really need them for important matches or against tough team.

Like Steven Gerrard best if playing one match per week, that's why I'll rest him for one of those matches when there're two in a week. Unless... it's inevitable that I need him to be in the lineup. Else I'll try with other player and then only subs him into the team whenever somehow reached 60~70th minute and not at the wining stake yet.

U r also playing as the manager, so think wise and take gamble! tongue.gif
