How come the pamphlet doesn't say anything about what is actually is - coating or paint? What chemical or material.
Seems to me like a backyard product.

Actually, applying shellac/varnish to furniture or even painting takes quite a lot of skill. You need experienced sifu to do a good job. I wouldn't try do it myself.
