I notice that it's always about what you can get in KL but hardly anything about household needs in Penang. Surely, Penang has a lot of new properties built over last 10 years as the property prices have grown faster than KL or any where else in Malaysia. I would like to see a forum on Penang's renovation, contractors, dining/lounge/bedroom furniture, kitchen cabinets, home appliances and any other household items that we need to purchase for our new homes in Penang. There is no point of reading what we can get in KL. It's too time consuming and yet you get disappointed for not getting the appropriate info to do your renovation in Penang. For those companies from neighbouring towns/cities like Bukit Mertajam, Perai, Ipoh and Taiping, which can provide deliveries of their products to Penang or are willing to to do renovation works in Penang, you are most welcome to talk about what you can offer to residents in Penang.

I would suggest that everyone of us should do our parts in sending enquiries to Ikea as recommended by SnoWFisH.
Are there any transport companies in KL which are keen to deliver furniture from KL to Penang. Maybe we should approach these KL transport companies to organise such delivery.
Are there any contractors in Penang who are willing to provide labour to install all these DIY kitchen and bedroom furnitures?

I have also enquired about IKEA's in-home service for Penang residents yesterday and I received the following reply:-

I'm Shirley. Yes we provide assembly service in Penang. We will charge extra transport charges RM800. For installation fee we charge 80.00/metre. (Length). Hood, Hob, Oven each we charge RM80.00. For sink installation we charge RM160.00 (For outstation no warranty provided) For delivery charges you have to refer to Ikea Home Delivery.

I think $800 for transport charge is too high. Do IKEA's staff travel by limo service from KL to Penang. Even if they hire a car to travel to Penang, it should not be more than $400!

I was looking through my notebook on Mattresses. Has anyone got any feedbacks on usage, pricing and the furniture shops in Penang selling of the following mattresses:-
Dunlopillo, Getha, Kingcoil, Goodnite, Slumberland, Simmons and Dreamland?
So far, I have not seen any one talking about Dreamland mattresses, which used to be one of the best in the market.
