Do you think the major update for WP7 will be released today?
Steve Ballmer will be presenting his keynote address at CES 2011 at 10.30 am (MY time) today and I hope the WP7 update will be released at the same time. |

There will be an update but not sure when. Here are the details of Ballmer's speech at CES 2011:

QUOTE(Prevail @ Jan 10 2011, 12:59 PM) Scary because too fast or too slow? I believe the difference in speed between devices has to do with the type of memory being used as well as construction of the device. In any case, all WP7 devices have improved leaps and bounds from the old WinMob days in terms of speed, stability and usabilty. No major complains so far. |

I use push mail on my HD7 and therefore I get max 1 day battery life. Always have to charge every night. This is with both Bluetooth and WiFi turned off during the day. I get more battery life compared to iPhone. No complains especially with today's smartphones.

Sadly, this is not THE update we've been waiting for accordingly to this article. More like a test update before THE update. This one really "potong stim"!
Why does Microsoft need a trial run? QUOTE The first thing to understand is that this update should be thought of as a test run - the update is upgrading the software on the phone that handles the software update. This update does not have copy and paste, or any other bug fixes that Microsoft is commenting on. This post has been edited by horray: Feb 22 2011, 08:44 AM |

Maybe those who didn't get the notification for the update has been blocked by their carrier. I'm on Maxis and I got the notification when I connect my HD7 to the PC yesterday morning.
By any chance, those who didn't get a notification are using Celcom or Digi? Read this article. |

I noticed a potential bug on HD7 this morning. My morning alarm set for 6.05 am on weekdays didn't go off until about 6.21 am. This happened after the update. Possibly a bug. However, I tested on a single alarm, it worked. Possibly it could be the recurring settings for the alarm. Shall monitor again tomorrow morning.
Anyone experienced any bugs after the update? BTW, it doesn't feel any faster after the update. Also, apps still load as slow. |

Samsung WP7 owners may want to hold on first before updating. Refer to this article.

Check out this article.
Appears to be a solution for those who is considering migrating to different platform, eg. iPhone to WP7. Apparently a WP7 version of the software is in the works. Interesting thing about this is that it's FREE! |

NoSign of NoDo update!
MS is really dragging their feet. If they don't get this update soon, they will lose some early adopters, like me! |

Now NoDo update is expected second half of March. Let's see if this materialises. Otherwise, it may slip into second quarter.

Personally I cannot understand why the update has to be rolled out in stages. the fruit company sends out update simultaneously worldwide without a glitch AFAIK. So why does Microsoft have a "queuing" system to roll out it's update. Do they have a much larger base than the robot or the fruit company?
Truly disappointing coming from the largest software company in the world! Sigh! |
