Hi guys, I've been thinking of buying an LCD TV for along time, preferably a 32'' full HD LCD TV for playing PS3, with now seeing a lot of year-end promotions at Carrefour,Jusco and Tesco , so should I go and grab their deal by this December 2010? Is it a good time to buy? The reason why I mention these hypermarkets (Carrefour/Jusco/Tesco) is because I can buy it using cash vouchers from credit card points redemption (around RM500), so which of these hypermarkets is giving the best deal? I hope I am at the right place to ask this question. Any reply is much appreciated. Thanks guys This post has been edited by antisushi: Dec 16 2010, 08:39 AM

I think Carrefour offer the best deal...Jusco only discount on display units. If budget permits, i say go straight to 40" LCD. Only around RM2K or less. You can get a Toshiba for RM1.8k and Sharp for RM1.9k outside.
Size does matters.
Another thing. If you can find it cheaper by RM200 or more outside, i suggest u buy elsewhere and save your voucher for something else like groceries. At least those prices won't vary much.

Buying a HDTV from hypermarket is not a bad idea since they usually have a 7-day one-for-one exhange policy in case of problem (but confirm with them on this first). It would be better to look around and compare the prices since some may have a particular model on special offer from time to time. Also, no extra charge for using credit card and get points some more. Yes, get the biggest set possible if money and space is not a constraint.

Thanks for the heads-up guys I've tried playing on a 40'', it really gives a good feel on the game. My concern: is 40'' too big and heavy to carry it frequently around in my car as back and forth? Can anyone recommend other shops that are offering great deal on LCD TV at the moment? Cheers guys.

The maintenance is also high. 32'' weighs 11kg, while 40'' is around 18kg. I guess I'll try to lift up 2 of that 10kg of rice bags to find out how heavy that 40'' is.

It's not about weight, but rather the risk of accidental flipping over. I seriously won't recommend u transporting ur LCD to and fro frequently...bad idea. If you are not interested in tuning to terrestrial free tv (not many people do nowadays), you can always opt for a new generation Samsung LED Monitor, they offer HDMI, VGA, DVI inputs all in one unit. The price is much cheaper than a TV and the size can reach 29" also. It offers dynamic LED control to increase contrast for better picture quality. Some of these "monitors" even have TV tuner built in, full HD 1080p, with 120Hz (for 3D display), worth considerations.

Thanks everyone for the feedbacks. I've finally bought my 32'' tv at Jusco. I bought an LG Full HD LD460 series for RM1300 during the J Card member day. Normal price on other days is RM1600. I've also received cash vouchers worth RM130. I was only able to use RM100 of my cash vouchers to buy the tv, as I didn't have time to order some more vouchers from the bank.
