"The Fair Usage Policy automatically identifies the extremely heavy users and manages their bandwidth in order to protect the service of all our other customers."

- This statement has got me scratching my head. I have been following this capping thread since v1 and am actually quite puzzled as to what I have been reading. I used to think this capping was indiscriminate, across the board and I have been wondering all along how come I don't really feel this slowdown effected by the capping exercise. Come to think of it this capping may NOT be indiscriminate and across the board. Come to think of it this capping may be highly selective and TM is actually doing as they say and ie to "automatically identify the extremely heavy users and manage their bandwidth in order to protect the service of all our other customers."

I have never felt really capped since day 1 but then again I use the internet for mostly email, news and forums. No downloads of movies, music, applications, games and no online gaming. Damn! TM could have been telling the truth all along. If such be case then they already have the number on the heavy users and their usage habits and have been selectively targeting this particular grouping with their newly implemented traffic management strategy.

Hopefully we can get the views of other 'light' users in here but then again the 'light' users would have no reason to hang around in this thread since they may not even be aware of this capping exercise and the new traffic management strategy since they have not felt any internet slowdown cos they have not been selectively targeted by TM.

Just my 2cts!

They doesn't put any information for bandwidth limitation for monthly basis in streamyx packages. This thing will make us wondering around  rclxub.gif . I think they should introduce a new package for "Email, news and forums". According to them, it 70%-80% of streamyx user after all. They should make the price lower (RM10-RM15) with 128-384Kbps, so we (heavy downloader), according to them 20%-30% of streamyx users doesn't sure the lite users. Well, TMnet making a lot of money for this, even 1MBps with unlimited for RM88 is overprice in here... Come on, other country doesn't charge that much for their 25MBps. Yayaya... Malaysia is malaysia, but TM is one of the biggest company in here and have government support, why the hell they still so greedy. they should charge it for RM20-RM30 for that.

I am just trying to make sense of what is actually happening. I am neither for nor against TM. I have no idea what TM's definition is for 'heavy' or 'light' usage.

Since I am on the 1mbps pkg I of course heartily agree with you that TM should charge in the region of RM20-RM30 for it. biggrin.gif

As for comparing Malaysia's internet speed with other countries like Singapore, South Korea etc please have a look at this video clip. After watching it you should have have a good idea why our internet access is slightly better than Myanmar..... hmmm then again maybe NOT!

yes yes I fully agree that TM is too expensive. They should charge like this:

1mbps = RM20
2mbps = RM40
4mbps = RM80

Come on man. You do know ringgit depreciates by 2-3% annually due to inflation right?

You can get a char-kuey-tiau and Teh Tarik for RM6, and you expect ISP to charge you 3 char-kuey tiau price for 1 month ?

Just saying though.

soul2soul is right. That pricing structure I proposed earlier is too optimistic.

Perhaps the following may be a more equitable pricing for both ISP & user:

1mbps = $40
2mbps = $80
4mbps = $120
