@MX510,

You asked for constructive comments on V2 of this thread, similar questions to this have been raised but unanswered.

This is in reference to a quote from the Fair Usage Policy on their Streamyx web site:

"The Fair Usage Policy automatically identifies the extremely heavy users and manages their bandwidth in order to protect the service of all our other customers."

How can the FUP be deemed fair when there is no quantifiable criteria from which users can determine whether they are identified as an extremely heavy user?

The current implementation appears arbitrary and used as a panacea in response to certain users' complaints.

I am just trying to make sense of what is actually happening. I am neither for nor against TM. I have no idea what TM's definition is for 'heavy' or 'light' usage.
Therein lies the problem.

Their traffic management policy has been in force one way or another for many years now. Any complaint to TM would receive a response directing users to their FAQ/FUP.

The thing that struck me from this thread is that heavy users were expecting (and apparently) getting full speed 24/7. Why then should some moderate/light users have come to consider 10-20% speed as the norm?

If the new traffic management system is an attempt to resolve the above and they are currently facing teething problems, then OK. However, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Thanks for sharing.

Standalone broadband is truly what we're looking for. I personally don't care about and don't need the IPTV or DECT phone when it comes to Unifi packages. Not saying I'm using Unifi though. I use 1Mbps streamyx.

*Sigh*

By the time Unifi reaches our locations, it will probably be capped/throttled/quota implemented and our speed will be much the same as our current package. The only difference is we will be paying twice the amount.

Meanwhile the current Unifi (preferred customers) will have moved on to the next great offering from TM and the cycle will repeat ad nauseam.
