hmm i did check on the customs tariff, it was stated that clothing are subject to 10% sale tax. IF i never see wrongly.
but u guys wasnt tax on it... so i guess its likely that my purchase + shipping cost (tho its free/paid by asos) is above RM500 which is the reason for the tax. I'll try another single purchase and see if tat tax and duties still applicable T.T

QUOTE(vahre5165 @ Mar 13 2012, 06:15 PM) since customs stated tht u got to pay rm116 for tax does it mean u spend around 1k for ur apparels? does it even tally w ur total purchase im a bit confused since i nvr got taxed from asos n few times i bought 3 FP polos per shipment QUOTE(absorb-d @ Mar 13 2012, 06:34 PM) the duty tax is calculated on 10% off ur item value INCLUSIVE of postage so if ur postage is not stated, they run their own approx which can be more than actual shipping cost the other thing is they probably top another rm50 service charge for duty fee processing, if the item u claim is slightly over rm500 nope my purchase was only RM450~460, so including the postage tat asos bear its most likely above rm500. RM116 < RM40 is the processing n document fee, and the remaining RM7x is from tax + duty I ASSUME. since i asked them, and they just told me its either this amount or no. So no choice but to pay...

Just some reference from duty/tax tariff for you guys to avoid the duty/tax thing. Not sure if its true, but after experiment it for a few times with ASOS, might as well share it with you guys. Please notice that, its not 100% true, its base on my experience purchasing from ASOS for a few times.
Make sure your shipment limited to 3 pairs of apparel 1 pair of shoes total purchase below RM500 as stated but try to make it RM450 and below break ur shipment if you buy more than the stated above and you are free from the tax/duty thing.
If your purchase is handle by Skynet (tracking available in your account tab from ASOS) you'll most likely end up with tax and handling fee. Check your email under spam/inbox if they provide you tracking number coz ur item will most likely held by custom and you need to reply their email.
Please add/correct me on this if im wrong ^^
