Hey guys,

Urgent help needed...

I bought a new Galaxy S a month ago and I experience the lag and normally only a reboot could solve it. Then Froyo came by in Kies, and after the update it was still laggy. So i revolved to rooting with SuperOneClick and applying OCLF lagfix... It was running fine until after a week or two, the phone started to experience serious lags in the homescreen, the app screen and various force closes from apps.

Then i tried formatting the phone in recovery, i did a recovery and data wipe but only after that i realized that i forgot to unroot and clear the lagfix, but even then i had no problems until this morning the phone was lag again.

Assuming that it was the root and the lagfix that i forgot to undo, i tot of trying to flash my phone with Odin using the firmware i got from samfirmware.com

Downloaded I9000DXJPA from samfirmware and used Odin 1.3 to flash my phone, there wasnt any problems with the flash and Odin reported it being successful, but my phone only boots up to the Galaxy S GT-I9000 screen, not even booting to the 'S' screen. Waited for quite a long time then i tried booting into recovery but no luck, recovery doesnt work, but download mode works for me.... I tried flashing a few times and still no luck, changed to Odin 1.7 and tried flashing several times as well...

Please someone give me some advice or help me.... Please~

the dxjpa firmware from samfirmware is not working (tested by me)

why not you try the newest xxjpu? 99% lag-free (it's smoother in darky's rom tho, didnt test doc's)
*
can u guide me through the process?? I'm really new to this android thingy.

Is darky's rom nice?? I scrolled through a few posts and most of the comments are good.
Sorry if i'm asking too much. Had no luck with it for hours now.

if youre interested in stock jpu, you may try this first

http://www.multiupload.com/PUSOOBQ8K5  password for extracting: samfirmware.com

in odin, just place the

.512 pit file to 'PIT',
modem to 'PHONE',
pda to 'PDA'
and csc to 'CSC'

TICK repartition and start the process in download mode

try out the stock first, see if you're satisfied with it!

if you needa your phone to be rooted, download this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment...03&d=1291835823

flash this in 'pda' odin after flashing tht jpu.. DISABLE repartition this time

full instructions are der indeed  thumbup.gif you may skip from part 13 onwards if you do not want to try darky's
*
i'm quite interested in trying darky instead. JPU is just version 2.2.1 right??

erm, for the PIT file, do u guys still use 512? i heard there's 512 and 803 pit files as well, and 803 is said to be better?

oh god there goes my night and my studies... icon_question.gif

so in ur opinion its the JPA firmware form samfirmware that caused this to happen???
so if in any case that i need to send my phone for repair how do i revert it back to JPA? Anybody has the stock JPA firmware?

sweat.gif good luck dude!

i think his jpa link is somewhat corrupted? i tried it before, and stucked at the booting screen as well

if you wanna send your phone for warranty, you have to either flash back to jg4 or jpa..

you can flash to jg4, as the link in the first post of this thread is working perfectly  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
oh... ok... i'll try that out... but first still... fix my phone cry.gif
need my galaxy back asap... there's a slim version for darky 5.5 is it nicer?

if u need chinese ime, use Google Pinyin IME.
with 3e recovery, u cant apply unsigned update.zip. u need to flash speedmod or voodoo to get CWM, or do CF-Root to get it

thanks for the tips... done everything... running everything smoothly XD

oh wow... tempting.....

btw what kind of protection u guys use for ur SGS? Screen protector, casing, pouch or anything?
I'm using a silicone devil case (like those for iphone) which is bought from taman connaught, a capdase resin (i think) case, and another case which has 2 pieces (1 that snaps on to the sides and another for the top and bottom).
All which i think is not good enuf. Searching for a pouch as well...

I use SGP Ultra Oleophobic Screen Protector, u should try this. Pouch im using DCMugen. it's loose btw
*
will the oleophobic layer wear off fast? actually i tot of getting a zagg invisible shield but its way out of budget and its not oleophobic.
currently using DCmugen's Matte screen protector but experiencing some reduction in screen responsiveness...

no, u can ask others that are using it here. by far getting the best feedbacks from its users smile.gif  ang SGP ultra oleophobic wont reduce touch responsiveness and also your SAMLOED brows.gif
*
hopefully "quack" would restock on the screen protectors when i get my hands on ptptn loan XD

i m using Steinheil ultra oleophobic SP and sucky Capcase (supposedly 'ori' but looks damn fake punyer case). M looking for a good case as well
*
ya bought those "ori" capdase casing right after i got my phone at the same place for RM35! felt so stupid

just saw a video for the SGP ULTRA SLIDER for SGS, that looks more like a protective case... but its kinda expensive for a casing.
case-mate's tough case looks really promising too... 2 layers, 1 layer silicone and another hard layer on the outside

hey guys,

do u all have any problem with Gameloft games???

some of the gameloft games would easily hang my phone until it had to force close.... quite irritated with this issue

Need guide, the more I read here the more confused I get sad.gif

Question
- Is Darky 5.5 permanent root? Can I revert back to previous version (Froyo) or can I move forward to Gingerbread when it is available in future?
- If I reset to factory default, everything is fast until I downloaded apps, games. I heard some apps or games may caused the lag problem. Is this true?
- Will Darky resolve my problem listed below?

My current problem
- batt dropped to almost 5% everyday by 9pm (@100% when at 9am)
- once awhile the screen seems extreme slow (no response then sudden keep changing screen as i keep touch the screen here and there when it happened)
- gps locking take long time
My SGS configuration
- firmware 2.2
- baseband I9000DXJPA
- kernel 2.6.32.9 root@SE-S604#1
- build - FROYO.DXJPA
- 3G always on from 9am-9pm
- wifi on when 3G disabled
- push mail sync every 30 mins
- watchdog enabled all time
- brightness at minimum
*
1. Darky 5.5 is mod rom. It is always possible to revert ur phone to stock firmwares (2.1 eclair, 2.2 froyo, etc) thru Odin. if gingerbread is ever released for SGS in the future u can always flash back to stock firmware and upgrade through Kies or u can download the firmware online and flash it using Odin again.
2. Yes. Some games and apps would cause lag but not sure which would
3. Brightness at maximum? rclxub.gif The screen drains a lot of battery as far as i know. The screen problem might be from the lag ur experiencing. SGS GPS is known to have issues, there are known fixes around but sadly none worked for me so just use the original settings.

BTW, should I use Darky's Gingerbread Edition v5 or Stock Froyo XXJPU? Don't wanna make mistake else I gonna throw this phone away. The lagging make me upset!  sad.gif
*

sorry my mistake tongue.gif

use JPU 1st lor if JPU solves most of ur problem then mayb u can stick to it and if ur feeling adventurous then get darky... XD
quite impress with JPU but then Darky has more customization and a lot of unused stock apps removed
