QUOTE(Fornx @ Dec 17 2010, 10:27 PM) lol how come?Added on December 17, 2010, 10:46 pm QUOTE(Bugeca @ Dec 17 2010, 10:29 PM) From Voodoo to Stock Kernel. so if i forgot to disable the lagfix, i can just flash the whole JPA firmware in with Odin and it shouldnt leave a trace right?Disable lagfix. Create a folder "disable lagfix" in /sdcard/voodoo will do and reboot ur phone. You need to download the stock firmware / kernel first. http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010...tall-froyo.html From the link above find "DXJPA_Complete" link and download it. Then unzip the file. Use 7zip program and open CODE_I9000DXJPA.tar (open the archive not extract it Remove factory.rfs and param.lfs. Leave zImage Close the file and flash it using odin as same as you flash other kernel. This post has been edited by CrossX: Dec 17 2010, 10:46 PM |

hey guys,
have u heard, Nexus S is using ext4, do u think there's a chance that it could permanently solve our RFS problems??? Actually y is it not possible for them to release a firmware to convert RFS to ext4 instead and fix it for good? and i heard that the GPS in nexus S is also fixed, hopefully it can be done on the galaxy s also |

QUOTE(ken2291 @ Dec 19 2010, 12:49 AM) yes, we heard that. some lagfix like voodoo uses ext4 too.. possible or not have to ask Samsung, we can't answer you. unless we go the dark way really hate not being able to use GPS most of the time... used to rely on GPS a lot and now... T_Tu mean to say that the RFS thing actually is a software problem which can be solved permanently?? previously i saw an article saying that lagfixes would kill the phone's internal sd card even faster? was really worried until i posted a thread to sell off my SGS but no luck till now |

QUOTE(ken2291 @ Dec 19 2010, 01:27 AM) u're a few pages late i'm just scared...Added on December 19, 2010, 1:31 am changing a new phone? i love SGS a lot... had many phones and this is by far my favourite except for those 2 flaws, the lags and the gps. leaving the gps aside (fingers crossed for 1 day a permanent fix would arrive) if the lagfix really does kill and samsung is not gonna bother giving us replacements then it would b a waste of money keeping the phone but in this case since i'm not getting the price i want i might be keeping it afterall... just scared with all the flashing, changing of firmware and so on... samsung o samsung pls pls pls do something about Galaxy S, dun bother about Nexus S first will ya? QUOTE(Piccolo @ Dec 19 2010, 11:19 AM) I am on jpx v5.1 doc and it's fine. Speed, GPS and batt life just as good as jpu. hey piccolo, ur GPS works fine with JPU and JPX???However it has that same checkered browser and max 4 tabs issue I hate from darky. Plus Samsung apps show only 7 apps compared to 17 from doc v4. Guess I'll head back back to v4 doc and wait for v5.2 or better yet..gingerbread port! there's a fix in these 2 firmwares? |

QUOTE(Piccolo @ Dec 19 2010, 12:31 PM) I use mine "out of the box." No other fixes like editing GPS.conf or messing withe GPS settings with dialer. Nope previously i done some tweaking but then it is reset to the default settings by now with all the flashings and so on.Did you edit yours? If you did you can try a factory reset/undo changes manually and try again. By the way I use papago x5 from market although Google maps works just as fine. Also something to note. The weather and where you place the phone affects the GPS as well. For instance I get less accuracy during cloudy skies or if I place my phone "in" the dashboard of my car. You should place it as close to windscreen as possible. Hope that can help. I'm using Papago as well... seriously hard to get a lock... too hard |

QUOTE(Fornx @ Dec 19 2010, 12:45 PM) yup found it XDAdded on December 19, 2010, 1:50 pm QUOTE(Piccolo @ Dec 19 2010, 01:11 PM) Maybe you can lay out in detail the rom kernel etc you are using. Also how you flashed to those roms. Maybe then someone here can also lend a hand. currently using Darky's v5.6 with base firmware XXJPU...Last but not least have you ever had good GPS? What rom were you using then? I flashed XXJPU with Odin and root using ChainFire's root then installed CWM thru recovery 2e. From there, i used CWM to proceed into Darky's v5.6 thats all i did. Rarely had any good signal, only once, at night, 2 weeks ago i think. Back then was just stock JPA but after that night nvr had any good GPS signal as well This post has been edited by CrossX: Dec 19 2010, 01:50 PM |
