This darky 5.5 is great. I do agrees that the hold power button new features. It's very convenient for restart and getting in to other modes.
+100 for that.

However, the launcher has got 2 type of gingerbread launcher. What is the difference between them?

I still use launcher pro because I've already got used to it.

Battery report:

unplug by 4pm last night.

After that use GPS for 10mins. surf web and download apps for about an hour. played some games for nearly 3 - 4 hours (hyper jump, doodle jump, talking tom and etc). Facebook and twitter stuff for 2 hours. Chat on the phone for about an hour. Then turn off data and wifi before sleep.

woke up this morning. Played with some games for 30 mins. watch youtube for 20 mins. facebook and twitter stuff for 10 mins. check emails and reply emails. took photos and upload for about 20 mins.

use GPS for 10 mins.

Right at the moment the phone still has got 42% of juices after 18 hours.

wow... this is so far the best response i have read bout batt life with darky.... wink.gif  thumbup.gif
*
yeah. that was lagfix disabled.
I did everything like turn off sync, turn off wifi and data whenever I don't need.

Love this darky 5.5 now. it's GPS responded really quickly and the battery life is as good as the time when I was using stock kernel.

Only thing I find it's weird is before I unplug it reads 100% in battery. but right after I unplug it drops to 97%. Feels like the battery wasn't fully charged. but if i plug back it reads 100% again.
However, the battery still seems to be lasting quite long. I suspect the battery indication isn't accurate.

So maybe the 42% of juice left here isn't really 42%.

Mine totally different...

Only thing different from yours is I'm still using the JPU default kernel.
I didn't use speedmod kernel for now.
b4 JPU I've tried speedmod kernel. I do finds that this kernel drains battery quite fast.

My longest record for the battery lasted for 5 days in stock kernel (SEA rom). but that was very moderately used with emails, facebook, twitter and web. a little angry birds at night.

Perhaps u can try to turn off data, wifi and sync whenever u don't need. don't use auto brightness. disable all lagfix.
use a really dark background.
use bgoog.com instead of google.com
check your push apps to not checking too frequent.

Honestly speaking this phone can be really good if it was tweaked right.

5 hours 30 mins unplugged. bat left 73%

1. wifi on
2. data network activated
3. simi clock widget with weather (hourly refresh)
4. minimum use (few sms and whatsapp msg)

xxjpu darky 5.5 with speedmod k10k - lagfix ext4 all and enable 1st 4 tweaks.

i think my bat life is not that great..
=(
*
I think your weather widget refresh too much. try limits it to 8 hours.
I use simi clock too. but the weather widget is from beautiful widget set to 8 hours refresh.

I turn off wifi when I don't need. turn off data also.
if i really need to go online, i just turn on wifi but keep the data off. i only use the data when I'm outdoor with no wifi access.

when data is on. i turn off wifi for sure.

I guess it's all depends on our habits.

Oh... btw, my phone hardly drop a single % when I turned off wifi and data. u should try to do this too.

how did u do that?

okay..saw previous post.. hehe

google is your best fren.. all u need to do, export your contacts to the external SD, get the vcf file..
then, get a method to combine all your vcf into just one vcf file.. import that to google and walla!  thumbup.gif

I've provided the method in the previous posts.

"Perhaps u can try to turn off data, wifi and sync whenever u don't need. don't use auto brightness. disable all lagfix.
use a really dark background.
use bgoog.com instead of google.com
check your push apps to not checking too frequent."

during 4 hours i answer few short calls, bout 10 sms, few min foursquare (GPS) and playing with the smoothness (doesnt meet my expectation tho) for 10-15min and there.. 30% lost. most of the time i was on idle
*
dude, to be fair to this phone. i've got to say that u might have a few things turned on which drains your battery like crazy. it happened to me before.
I just changed a few habit and it lasted at least 40 hours a day.

1.) turn off "use wireless network" for location service. this drain most for me.
2.) turn off HSDPA and use 3g instead. HSDPA drains most battery.
3.) turn off wifi networks when you don't need.
4.) turn off GPS.
5.) turn off sync when u don't need to sync. unless u need real time updates on your emails or facebook stuff.
6.) use dark theme.
7.) turn off DATA access whenever you don't need to access the internet. or when you have a proper WIFI to connect to. having both wifi and data access on would drains a lot.

The longest time I can keep my phone on unplug until the last drop of juice is 5 days.
Hope this can help you with ur phone.

You got to be kidding. 5 days? 5 days of idle time... hehe

I'm serious.
the phone last this long when I was using the stock rom DXJPA.
on darky it can't last this long but I think it's still reasonably well.
I do use my phone in day time (not heavy, just phone calls, sms, youtube and facebook) in the 5 days period. only difference is at night I've turned off every network access and left it overnight on.
To my surprise the phone doesn't drop any juice (not even 1%. just stay there like that whole time) when the data access and wifi was off.

I experience that too

Just off all schedule stuff, watchdog stuff, off 3g,kill everything before i slept

wake 10 hours later with 1% drop only tongue.gif
*
yeah. that's very true.
If we are careful with the way we use it it can last very long.
Killing all of the stuff is one of the key to do it.

However, on JPU with darky 5.5 it drops a little over night. dropped nearly 2% over night but it's a far cry from the time I start optimize the way i use it.
The phone used to drop 40% over night. that time I thought the phone sucks.

well, glad you get it optimize for long battery life. The most I got is 21h but that is becoz I am a heavy user. Overnight sleep only drop 2-3% for 8h

As long as it can last me a day, I am happy..  biggrin.gif

My wife starting to lurking on my phone a lot since a few days ago. I've observed that she has been playing games like doodle jump, talking tom, hyper jump, angry birds and etc for at least 1-2 hours a day. other times she use my phone to chat on QQ. and I just use my phone normally with social networks stuff. taking notes with the extensive notes app. watch some youtube. This phone can still last up to 40-50 hours for me.

on usual use, the phone do dropped quite some juice as I've observed. but during the night when it idle, it rarely drop any % at all. I guess that's why it can last so long.

well... we are not using the phone to render any 3d animations for Movie or TV productions. We are not using the phone for scientific calculations for simulating nuclear reaction or finding a cure for cancer and aids.
We also not going to play PC games on our phone any time soon. why bother to have more FPS when the phone have got suffice performance?

I'd say for the balanced platform. The better the processors they use also means that they have to use more cell for the batteries. the more they add the more it cost to consumer like us.

I'll just keep using SGS for a longer time since google chose galaxy S spec for their nexus S. More to come with this spec for mobile phone users. unless u are talking about tablets which have got more room to grow.
