My 'Happy Accidents'. First photo was over exposed because all of a sudden there was a flood of light onstage. Other two photos I discovered while flipping through captured photos which I have no idea how they got there in the first place laugh.gif

N8 vs SE ARC review is out photo comparison
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/it...ead_to_head.php
*
Disappointing indeed coming from the already dying Symbian forum doh.gif Frankly at this point even X10 takes better photos than Arc. But then again to be fair N8 software have been fine tuned to a T by now while a lot can still be done with the fresh out of the oven Arc as most of the problems there can be ironed out with a camdriver fix. There's too much image compression done on the photos resulting in small sized photos resulting in reduced quality/detail, easily fixable and hope that they do give it a tune up. So is the auto white balance algorithm, fixable indeed though nothing can be said about it against the N8's mighty Xenon flash. Arc will get a Xenon variant but will only be available in Japan cry.gif

But then again, coming from the Xperia Blog:

http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/03/16/camer...4-and-galaxy-s/

Well i guess there is some degree of biasness with affiliated sites conducting these sorts of comparisons...

the dynamic range is just amazing, SEXarc.

That dynamic range IS great, the only thing it needed to be perfect was EV adjustment, that's all. That's why aspire2006's comparison photo looked a tad bit darker- tweaking with the settings rather than full auto all the time does help wink.gif

Yup, the only strong point for arc's exmor, but their clumsy compression spoil it, updates comming soon a couple of weeks and hopes they'll bring out the most of the camera.
*
Well, SE was in a hurry to get Gingerbread 2.3 out first before their competitors which they succeeded in doing (bar Google themselves) but at the expense of the camera development. Plenty of time for it to develop now that their initial target has been achieved wink.gif

This is not my Xperia Arc, but I took these photos to test drive the camera. It has vivid and really close colour representation in really dark ambience, though the amount of noise is appalling doh.gif But that being said, it still takes much better night photos than my 4 year old dedicated Kodak digital camera laugh.gif All these photos are much brighter than they actually are especially the 7th photo which only had those dim ambient lights that you can see. I'll try some day shots tomorrow as I only had it this evening wink.gif

for low light it does take some impressive shots

I don't know what to make of the Arc frankly, it confuses me but let my photos I took do the talking. Hard to get any good daylight shots till today where the haze was gone briefly.

wow not bad xperia arc. What about close up? How close can u go to an object? Maybe its the photographer that makes the difference not the tool
*
Close up even loses to X10, will post a comparison shot soon. This is where I said I don't know what to feel, the autofocus with the current camdriver has serious issues, the distance is quite far and need a few tries sometimes to lock focus. Other than that detail not as good as X10 because of the crazy jpeg compression, noise suppression not done to optimal level, so basically the software programming is screwed up. But nevertheless, I've found a workaround to get better night shots which is, after all, the Arc's selling point..

Xperia Arc night shots I took yesterday and today evening

Those X7 photos look really sharp, but colours are on the cold side for my liking and not as vibrant as N8. One can always tweak the colours, but not for naturalists though.

@xtorm
Oh, I think you've mistaken me for using Arc, those are X10 pictures actually. And sure, I've posted tonnes of photos with normal mode instead of panorama (which I just discovered after I found out the add on in the Android Market lol). Here's a some of my more ordinary shots from the weekend wink.gif

From the specs, ARC better than X10 but probably due to skill i.e when comes to photography, Skill>hardware and thus, those taken by mode via X10 much better than others with ARC haha

just like N8..You can see the differences on those taken by aspire & others
*
Thanks boss but no la, credit goes to hardware also, if you give me other phones to work with ie. HTC Desire or SGS I wouldn't be able to do jack with it because the sensors just aren't workable doh.gif
