probably due to faulty RAM or HDD??

What cooling pad u guys use for xps 15??Currently i'm finding one that could cool my laptop plus have cushion to separate the heat from my lap

I tell you what you should RMA your laptop , call them and tell them all the steps you've taken so that they won't call you to follow stupid steps to check the laptop again , and call them to send technician to your house , don't worry xps laptop technician is well train for fixing the laptop because xps is premium laptop , just tell them you check and suspect HDD so that they could bring a new one to your house and check whether is it the HDD problem and change it

Alright today i tinker with my laptop and find out there's few problem with it that need TS help.

1.)There are 3 touch sensitive buttons on top left of the keyboard.First one from left is gear button which to open Windows Mobility Center , the second one is user configurable whereas third one is to open realtek control manager.

2.)The thing is when i try to push the third button , the light of the button will just become bright and after that the realtek control manager won't come out , but the first gear button is working by opening mobility center when i click it.

3.)Third question is how to configure second button?

4.)The touchpad , even when i disable it by pressing fn + F3 , which mean the light above the touchpad is off , but still the touchpad still can be use and move , what happen to it ??

Well there's lots of tutorial out there on how to use mac on vmware , since dell xps 15 rig support hardware virtualization , it can be done , my old rig can't do that , so last time when i try to install it failed

When you press the enable blacklit keyboard button and also screen brightness button , is there any indicator come out like when we're disabling or enabling wifi and enabling or disabling the laptop sound??I wanted to know whether i've installed all the relevant driver or not ,

Hey before i reinstall my windows , whenever i close my laptop's lid , it will like sleep or something and will auto turn on and shows me logon screen when i open the lid , but after reinstalling windows , when i close the lid and open it back , i need to manually turn it on by using the power button , and when it turns on it shown me boot screen then only to the logon screen.how am i going to make it back into like before i reinstall my windows??oh ya there's one thing before i reinstall windows when i close the lid , the XPS logo behind bottom of screen still bright , but after reinstall windows i close the lid the logo light will went off

Yeah i change to hibernate , then i try to close the lid but still it does not work as before i reinstall windows .


P/S , still struggle to let linux run on optimus enable laptop , wonder if the circuit design of this dell rig could let us disable optimus in bios with a bios update that added this function

Did you try run this rig with ubuntu before??

hey guys i discover some weird behavior today , i was installing a game call bioshock and i notice the cpu temperature increase from 5x degree celsius to about 7x - 8x degree celsius and the fan spin vigorously , is it a normal behavior??Why installing a game a simple task would generate so much heat , i try install sims 3 too and again it rise again and gone back to 5x degree celsius after finish installed ,anybody experience this??

Anyway dunno why my cpu heat so high , i play bulletstorm just now my gpu (gt 540m) only reach 60++ degree celsius but my cpu could jump till 80 or 92 degree celsius

well i disable the intel turbo boost and the heating problem disappear , before that i try to play bulletstorm and my nvidia gpu oni reach 5x celsius but cpu span up to 9x celsius , so i try disable turbo boost and highest the cpu get oni 7x degree celsius XD

hi today i accidentally knock my dell xps 15 laptop when i'm holding it and my laptop lid , the place where the dell logo is and small part of it scratch and dented , the laptop still can be used but the thing is the scractch part make it doesnt look nice .Do you guys know whether dell got provide changing lid service??The lid i mention is the thing behind the laptop screen.Thanks

Hi anybody expert in virtualization??I just wonder whether dell xps 15 with intel i7 2630qm cpu support hardware virtulization??Because vmware keep pop out that say i'm using a system that doesn't support hardware virtualization.But i've double check and make sure virtualization is enable in the BIOS.Any idea on how to deal with it??

Haiz use l502x for long and doesnt feel any power at all , feel wanna get msi laptop
