where a good or bad motherboard could mean the difference between 50 fps or 5 fps. That's not so surprising as its the interconnecting bridge between your CPU, HD, RAM and GPU, all working hand in hand to deliver the best possible performance. One weak link in the chain and it all falls apart. I normally buy a very well-rounded PC, with the best bang for buck.

You sure about this? I've been testing out a Gigabyte X58A-UD7 and a normal M-ATX board and i don't see any difference in terms of FPS.
Just straight away go for GTX460, it will lasts you for very long time since you just focus on WoW mainly.
If 2.5k-3k budget, consider this spec, should be sufficient for you for 3 years.
