Hmm, you don't need a high end PC to run WoW. I have a medium end PC that runs WoW perfectly. Only costed me RM 1.2k. Running at ~60fps in crowded areas, ~120fps in indoor areas/raids.
Just play with the settings and you'll have a good balance of performance and eye candy. wink.gif

Anyways, just as a guideline.

CPU: Anything above 2 cores
RAM: Anything above 2GB RAM
GPU: Anything that is DirectX 11 capable. Rumor has it WoW runs best on DX11 cards

Does Hard disk effect gameplay too?

Yes, to a small extent.

How bout motherboard?? I have a phobia on motherboards...
Last time during college days where i used to assemble my own and got a motherboard thats not compatible with certain hardware and keep hang or get bottlenecked speeds..

A good motherboard is actually very important, where a good or bad motherboard could mean the difference between 50 fps or 5 fps. That's not so surprising as its the interconnecting bridge between your CPU, HD, RAM and GPU, all working hand in hand to deliver the best possible performance. One weak link in the chain and it all falls apart. I normally buy a very well-rounded PC, with the best bang for buck. biggrin.gif

Overexaggeration on my part biggrin.gif

True story though. Happened to me during my campus days. I had an old PC (VIA chipset motherboard, AMD Athlon XP, Radeon 9600) once. My favorite game at the time would be Oblivion, playing at around 30-40 fps.
It so happens that one day my motherboard decided to give up on me, and being the cheapskate I was, opted for the cheapest motherboard available. Got myself a new one (SiS chipset motherboard) for around RM200, plugged the same CPU and GPU in.
And with this new motherboard, Oblivion was running at 5-10 fps. I was like shocking.gif

In the end, I returned the motherboard and topped up another RM100 to get an NForce chipset motherboard, which gave me around the same fps in Oblivion as the VIA chipset motherboard did. sweat.gif
