If ever your N8 failed to boot up (mean pressing the power button but no response), do as follow:
1. Verify is it a SW hang by long press the power button >7.5 seconds to force shutdown the N8. This is for SW hang scenario 2. Plug in the charger and wait for AT LEAST 15 minutes, then try to boot up. This is for depleted battery scenario 3. If you are SURE the battery not depleted and got the DEAD N8, send to NCC for checking as it might be defective hardware related issues.
From experience, the N8 can't be Hard Reset once it's failed to boot up normally or so call "DEAD N8".

4. From what I've observed the phone AMOLED will start to turn off start at "ST BLACK-04.bmp", "ST BLACK-03.bmp", "ST BLACK-02.bmp", "ST BLACK-01.bmp",
"ST BLACK-00.bmp".
5. The screen dark "stains" will sufface as well during these few color cards.
6. Start from "ST BLACK-05.bmp" onward the dark "stains" will be not so visible.
7. All these have to be done in total darkness room as these defective "stains" are not visible at all when the surrounding are bright.
After you seen these result DO NOT simply bash N8 straight away as we're not sure why/how the AMOLED display technology work and how it perform on other
devices. Anyone can use these color cards to verify on others AMOLED display devices as well...

04. Call Logs missing even set to keep for 30 days.(CONFIRMED) - Logs over flooded by network connection logs. - Logs having limited overall entry although set to keep for 30 days.
05. Screen won't be fully turn OFF after the charging complete popup message(CONFIRMED) - Plug in the charger and let the phone to charge. - After the charging complete, a message will popup, do not disturb it and let the phone to turn off the screen as usual. - Turn off the surrounding light (a total darkness needed to observe the screen). - When look the screen in total darkness, you can see a grayish screen with some dark spots (dirty stains).

So current N8 in the market still batch 1 right? Heard from somewhere the 2nd batch will come out around mid of December. Still hold my intention to grab 1 And also not sure bout the price mass revised starting next year. Any ideas guys?

I think Nikon models are too low or too high for my mum to buy now. Canon EOS550D seems just the right choice but Aspire, I'm still saying this: 18-200mm EFS is super expensive. Is 18-135mm good enough? I'm just asking but if you recommend 18-200mm, I'm alright with that but see my mum larh!

D90 now going very cheap since D7000 released; D7000 will be a very good choice if you have the money.
Get a zoom lens and also get a prime lens; prime lens will give you quality and nice "bokeh" especially for portraits, it's also fast and very good in low light condition with aperture like f1.8 or f1.4. You can get a cheap prime lens below RM400.

Think hard whether you will use it, and why you want to get it. Now got EVIL camera, like Sony NEX series, Sony SLT with 10fps!, Panasonic GirlFriend2 (GF2), Olympus PEN, etc. All these camera gives DSLR like quality and point and shoot features, and it's compact in size. What's more, some of these cameras has very nice features like SWEEP PANORAMA, built-in guide how to take photo, even have function for your to blur the background to get the "bokeh" effect, They also have decent low light performance; Sony NEX and SLT using APS-C size sensor, same with DSLR... the ISO performance is quite remarkable and comparable or even better than entry level DSLR...
Know what your needs and what you will use for; DSLR is not cheap to spend because there's so many lens, and most DSLR, the image stabilization is built in lens instead of body unlike point and shoot camera. The main point is the ability to use a good lens, which will make a big difference.

Yea, lens is very important; but my friend tested and compared the 60D with 550D, with his own same skill, haha; proven the 60D is better plus the it's has more features. Depend on the purpose, both 550D and D3100 is good camera even though it's entry level.
Just like handphone, we have low end, mid-range and high end. Depend on your needs and get the one that fit your requirement. Of course, for DSLR, the price is big difference, LoL!

Autofocus only work in short distance. If U're driving, probably the results will not be good. Anyway, just try it and post the results. I will be happy to be wrong.
The CAF have hard time focusing when you're really near the object. If you kept your distance, it will keep focusing.

8TV Catch Up requires an Internet connection and data charges may apply. If you have added 8TV Catch Up to the homescreen, pls remove and restart it again. Accept all prompts to connect to the network.

yup.. mine those tv widgets.. first day they say refreshing content.. like some of u now.. but since that day, it has never had a single prob b4. oways worked. after update oso no prob. but no difference la. hahaha

the CAF mods only affected 1 file... try to extract and made a .sis mod but too bad is say update failed during install, which mean the file are protected to be update...

i only prefer using .sis mods... and yes i've installed the camera quality mods and camera sound mute mods... both can be mods through normal .sis installations...

WTF to Maxis!! For some reasons, Maxis barred my line. And few days back when I called in to checked for my contract status, they told me to fax in. I was like WTF?! Get prepaid problem settle. He use daddy cooperate line ma so if entire bill exceed credit limit all get barred

If you check in your luggage I think there's no specified limit. Not sure how the customs will look if you bring too much. As for using electronic devices on board, if your phone supports offline mode, then it's okay.

i believe tv catchup of 8tv and tv3 inside still left some old file after get updates thus it get crashed with the new one. because after i update it cannot work. then i uninstall and get fresh old version from ovi store and still cant stream. it still prompt me to update, but i didnt update.. still cant work.. the file inside there must be crashed..
She now very butthurt with us Nokia Symbian^1 get updates but her S^1 no updates...Nokia N8 also getting update but Satio no update! She so butthurt... don't keep spam here... later she report to mod we all kena ban

Between skype & fring, which one is better ? Anybody tried yet ? Skype has the advantage of making call through many device like desktop, laptop & mobile devices(phone) but fring only target for mobile phone. what i would like to know is in term of call quality & ease of use.
Call quality depending on line-lah. If you're on stable 5mbps UNIFI, it's crystal clear like normal house phone but if you're on 1mbps streamyx, expect intermittent hissing & disconnection. (Either on Fring or Skype)
Problem is my current FRING that i installed in N8 can't associate wth my skype credit/accoungt dunno0 why..so really need skype instead.

fring support video call , which skype doesnt. skype is one of the VoIP service provider, but fring is a platform for ANY VoIP services provider EXCEPT skype.
