Nobody has advice for me? I guess I will start classes soon and continue trying one more time after acca to see if I have a shot.
*
Just do your ACCA and pass it.

Pretty sure you'll get some calls coming in, whether it's the Big 4 or some large MNC.

Good luck.

I am also scared of the work load that I won't be able to cope with. But nevertheless I think I will start classes first and see how it goes. Thanks again. smile.gif
Aight chiahau. Thanks smile.gif

Work load will be epic heavy as usual, if you are working for Big 4 firms.

Be prepared to be crazy busy and last minute study as usual.

My firm previously allowed me to claim my ACCA fees, but only one membership (ie if u have MIA/ACCA, u have to choose one).
The other firm I joined in SG on the other hand doesn't allow me to claim at all.

So yea, depends on firms. So far PwC allows claims, but there's a cap of RM1k or RM1.5k (not sure whether this has been revised since I left a few years back)
*
Okay what? 1,5k is better than nothing rclxms.gif

Compared to some firms who ask u to take ACCA but not willing to subsidize 1 cent at all laugh.gif

Don't say u r elder than them 1-2 yrs.. me same age with them also different thinking.. they graduate almost a yr plus later than me(probably they enter public uni n me private uni).. no sense of responsibility.. do work also need spoonfeed everything ask questions where answers are common sense even 1st class student is like dat..
*
What you deem as common sense might not be actually common sense in work environment.

When you are new, you'll probably ask more and be more cautious instead of being all gung ho and making your own decisions.

Not defending anyone here, but most people I know who are fresh from uni and never held a job before tends to ask a little bit more to prevent making silly mistake.

Give them a time frame ( 2~4 months perhaps ) and I think they will stop asking silly question.

can acca fresh graduate join consulting department ?
*
Consulting is all about experience.

I won't say it's not possible, but your chances are not high unless you are a top scorer in ACCA exams and have pretty decent networking so that people can vouch for you.

Hi Thanatos! Thank you for the information  smile.gif

How do they measure KPI actually besides attitude? In commercial field, it's mostly about the performance and quota. But auditor doesn't have that right?
*
You need to kiss ass and start playing the politic games if you want to have good performance appraisal every time tongue.gif

Thanks for your reply, but i think i just can stick to audit first  sad.gif
Thanks for your sharing, you are working at one of the big4 as well?
*
Or you could join Tax like me tongue.gif

Apparently there's a hike in tax department hiring due to indirect tax ( keyword : April 2015 ) and they seems to be pretty nice compared to the ones in the Assurance department tongue.gif

But don't take my word fully on it. I'm biased to PwC as many of my friends are working there/worked there for a bit.

not so into tax, anyway thanks  smile.gif you are working at PwC? hows the working environment there?
*
I'm not in PwC yet.

Am unwilling to let go of my current pay as it's more than what PwC's offering for that tax position.

The environment is pretty much the same elsewhere. You work, you finish it, you go home late.

Lol.

Well it used to be special case. Now as long as you're proven to be capable and deserving of the promotion, they will consider to promote you during December. Esp if you're promoted to those ranks where it is hard to recruit from outside (eg. assistant manager/consultant). The faster they can promote you the more jobs they can throw to you  tongue.gif
*
I hope the promotion comes in December as I might join sometime around May as well. laugh.gif

How's the advisory like in the other big 4 firms?
*
Long hours + plenty of work.

Almost the same for all, I dareday.

QUOTE(zenwell @ Apr 3 2015, 06:01 PM)
Why is it so hard to find a suitable Accounting exec / Senior nowadays? I see there's a lot of graduates from Universities everywhere but I wonder where they go? do they all join big four and stay there for as long as they can remember? big four firms can't be accomodating so many employees right?
*
They go join Big 4.

Good ones leave after a while and go to corporate/finance/etc.

Some choose to stay loyal to Big 4 and stay there until Kingdom come.

Lousy one quit within 1 year due to stress and go work for small small companies or do something completely unrelated.

So yeah, good and average ones are mostly all taken.

I'm a recent graduate. Considering all career paths that's why I asked about the career progression as an auditor. Read several sites and some seems to categorize the titles differently that's why I asked here to confirm..and of course to find out the typical length of time it takes to achieve each level plus information on the remunerations as well.
*
Every firm has it's own title and progression pathway.

Same goes with remuneration.

If you are an average joe, will take your approximately 3~5 years / maybe even more to make AM.

If you are someone awesome, there are people who manage to make senior within 1,5 years or so.

It's all on you. As for remuneration, those information are available quite easily over the internet.

Hi guys, I'm a fresh graduate (Bachelor of Business: Accounting) with a third class degree. I am just wondering if any big four or mid tier firms will even consider me. Guess I've failed in life. But I really want to join mid tier or big four firms so badly. Guess should have work harder sad.gif
*
Get a professional qualification and work harder in life.

Don't just give up coz you got a crappy degree.

Write in already? Write in and try... or at least join a mid tier first and jump ship after u at least achieve senior title
*
With a 3rd class degree, unless the candidate can impress the partners, a bit hard to enter also.

Now a lot of degree holders, market damn competitive to entry level.

Might as well hide in a small firm, quickly pass CPA/ACCA then resurface with a much reputable qualification.

Havent. Just that the feeling of disappointment got me all moody and stuff. Probably they wont even bother looking at my resume tho but like what everyone said no harm trying so gotta do what I gotta do which is to submit the resume. But then no point crying over spilt milk so can only blame myself for not working my ass off for my studies previously
*
Don't fret about the past.

You can't do anything about it.

Look forward instead man.

Plan for your professional qualifications.
