How is it like , working in PwC ?
*
The people here are awesome. All willing to teach and socialize. There are bad apples of course, but I've not encounter any of them yet.

And the firm is not without its scandals.

All is good except the nature of the job itself which I am quite certain I will not be staying in the audit line for long.

*
New batches from July onwards are Industry Explorers, ie. you get to explore other industries for a year before committing yourself into a specific industry.

New leadership, new methods I guess.

wah so we are going to be the first mover? bro what about ur audit line?
*
Oh, I'm in EUMI.

First movers always have its risks. Time will tell whether this will affect the proportion of each industry and whether it will reduce turnover.

ur first choice is EUMI? i choose FS. But then d details regarding the new method will be clarified in the first experience.
*
My first and only choice is EUMI. I joined PwC because of EUMI.

Like I explained just now, you most probably won't be put into FS immediately but you first engagement might be clients from FS.

That sounds rather promising ! How was the interview for you last time ?
*
Interview depends on the interviewer. If you get partners as interviewers, expect a little grill, but you will most probably get in anyway if you can't answer the question.

Mine was from HR. Standard behavioural questions, piece of cake.

OK, thx for the info, i just wish to join earlier to gain audit practical experience. maybe i try to apply again after Jun sitting results are out.

I think i am ready to work hard. during peak period those who study part time will be still going for classes or they will stop for that sitting and continue after peak period?
*
Everyone thinks that they are willing to work hard in audit. But only a few will be able to withstand the pressure. Working everyday from 9am to 2am for 3 months with incompetent clients and sometimes not being able to claim a single sen and compensation time is super demotivating.

I believe it is up to you to decide whether to study part time during peak periods since you will be the one to sign up for the papers. Since you need 3 years of working experience to claim membership anyway, you might not want to finish up the paper ASAP, but it also depends on what qualification that you're looking for.

Hi guys, anyone know how to apply for PWC jobs?

Currently looking for associates position in audit/tax/advisory

I have created my resume profile and everything at their website and submitted to them.

MY question is how do I apply for 1 particular position eg : Audit associate?

I don't see any other way to apply @@
*
The Audit portion is the industry part, FS, MMG, EUMI, CLAS, etc etc.

You have to choose 3 before you can submit to them.

But the problem is i don't know where to submit my application.

Do you have the link? biggrin.gif

Btw what does FS MMG EUMI CLAS mean? Sry as im still newbie
*
Didn't you just said that you submitted to them already? You're contradicting yourself.

To submit you must have surely ticked 3 areas in audit.

You dunno where to submit your application? Just click submit. The page won't show anything or give you any confirmation that you have submitted your application (as far as I remember).

It's most probably due to the year end bonus. Everyone leaves after receiving their bonus in end of July, me included.

hi everyone. I'm entering PwC as of 18th September next month as an audit associate. I would really appreciate any tips and experiences any PwC employee has during their early days notworthy.gif

also, how is PwC really like? busy all year or there are off peak periods as well? That day I went for assessment, i saw this presentation they had, and looks like quite some fun also la.

got events la, sports la, ... anything else I'm missing? I'm really looking forward to working with PwC soon nod.gif just wanna know everything I should know, even the informal info also.
*
Don't get conned into their presentation. The stuff that you see is the best thing that will happen in PwC and nothing more that will exceed your expectations.

You will be missing the KSP Dinner on 7 Sept though. biggrin.gif

It is mostly off peak now, though if you're doing Sime, then its peak for you.

haha true that.. luckily the IT department decided to provide us with the latest Windows OS as well nod.gif

ok laa... i wont say the speed is amazing... just moderately better than the batch before us..

btw, tomorrow im heading to their facilities dept to get some extra bottles tongue.gif
*
Windows 7 will be introduced either way at the start of next year if I'm not mistaken.

I don't really like the laptop, too bulky. Additional burden to our already weak body. XP

Avoid at all cost to work at EY...my gf plan to resign next week and consulted HR.HR told my gf that they will only pay back max.5days leave and remaining forfeited ...it's the worst co. To join.

Not to say work OT for free , ur leave entitlement also Kena...my gf OT leave of ten day get burn for sure , and  5 annual leave get burned as well..

U can choose not to believe but u have been warned ...lol..
*
I have no comment on EY, but at PwC, everything outstanding will be reimbursed. I had 2.5 day leave and more than 12 days worth of OT, as well as other claims from engagements and they have given all back to me, worth more than 3k.

Hi guys,

Jst wanted to find out if BDO really is the big4 in Malaysia? At least that was what one of the partners said.
Also, any thoughts on governance advisory for pwc or ey?
How are the exit opportunities like and also skillsets to be gained from that position.
Thank you!
*
Can't really comment on advisory side of Big4.

It depends on how you see it. BDO can be considered Big4 in Malaysia since BDO's total audit fee is ranked 4th, above Deloitte in Malaysia.

But of course, you should also know that globally, Deloitte is at least 5 times bigger than BDO.

I also heard EUMI guys, got chance to earn until 6-7 months bonus.. but not for noob like me lar sweat.gif
*
U just got conned. Bonuses are the same across all audit industries (not sure about advisory and tax though). The bonus depends on the current grade of the employee. A graders earn much more than other grades. Of course, the effort you need put in is also much more than others.

From my experience interning at EY, I believe you'll learn much more in a Big 4 Firm, even if you join the Assurance departments.
*
Of course you will learn. But the question is whether are the stuff that you learn applicable to where you envision yourself to be in?

OK guys, I'm in my final year Degree in Accounting & Finance, CGPA below 2.5... (I know it sucks)

I received a call today from KPMG after sending my resume and results on Sunday. They called me to start work at KPMG (Miri) tommorow, the funny thing is I'm wondering how to ask if whether i'll be paid any allowance during my internship.

Does anyone know how much allowance they provide?

Its not that I'm looking forward to the allowance/salary.. Just wondering. Since a friend is asking, and I said I don't know smile.gif
*
Miri and KL office is very different, both in terms of quality and amount of work. I would say the allowance would most probably be 700 since you are based in Miri.
