Yaya... anybody got first hand exp, pls share, better if it's the owner of SB900 who test out the SB700, can give a hands on comparison whether the SB700 is a much better carry around flash with all the goodies of SB900
Lol.... good price u got, luckily din kena chop huh
*
If your definition of much better carry around flash is lighter & smaller, than the SB700 is definitely better than SB900.. Just get the SB900 la, won't worry about insufficient power and functions drool.gif

How many of you here thinking that SB900 is too much for daily usage? As in too heavy and bulky and ever thinking of downgrading it to like SB700? lol.....  blush.gif
*
For daily usage u should not even buy SLR if u think it's heavy, to me if u are worried about weight, just get a EP2 or GF1...... 70-200vr2 is heavy for usage as well, but theres still a lot of people buying it brows.gif , imho i got sb900 few months ago and never regretted spending this much on a flash, it's way more solid than the sb600, much more powerful and got more function as well, no problem even bouncing off 20feet high ceiling tongue.gif

Cool..post some pics fast..wanna see what this lens can do  biggrin.gif
*
Will do so when i get the chance to snap, here are my initial impression.

1. Very solid buid quality
2. Fast and silent AF
3. Great colour and bokeh
4. Sharpness seems to be quite good as well even wide open, but stop down u can see the lens shine(Will post a comparison at 70mm with my 70-200vr2 when I have time)
5. Is it half as good as Nikon 24-70? I certainly don't think so, very good value for money thumbup.gif
6. 82mm UV filter is damn expensive, I bought the Marumi 82mm DHG UV filter for this lens ( RM170 )..

Forget about manual if you're planning to shoot some quick action.

G is better because at wide open CA control way better than the D.
*
D got lousy bokeh especially stopped down tongue.gif

IMHO, for the best 50mm for Nikon SLR, theres only 1 choice in my mind. The sigma 50mm F/1.4, priced around the same as the G version as well, better bokeh, heavier and much sturdier(I like heavy lens tongue.gif )

QUOTE(kiroz @ Dec 21 2010, 10:19 AM)
If 50mm f/1.8d versus 35mm f/1.8g, which one is better for d90?
85mm f/1.4G - RM 4.6k
70-200 VRII - RM 6.8k
135mm f/2DC - RM 4.5k
200mm f/2. - RM 16k

Is there any 3rd party equivalent lenses that costs cheaper than these? I broke already... tongue.gif
*
3rd party equivalent,

50mm Sigma F/1.4 ( RM2200 )
85mm Sigma F/1.4 ( Rm3800 )

OR

Nikon 85 f/1.4D ( New is RM3500, 2nd hand probably around Rm3000)

Hahaa..... dammn, feel like selling off the 35mm n get the sigma 50mm  tongue.gif  my 1.8G can't do much =.=
*
35mm is useless on crop for me, I get the sigma 50mm anytime, way better in terms of bokeh, colour and sharpness tongue.gif

The 85/1.8 is "good enough" if you ask me. With proper lighting you can't tell the difference between that and the 85/1.4, its lighter and it costs less than half the price. You only lose 2 things... ~2/3 of a stop of light, and some macho bragging rights. Other than that is a very fine piece of glass.
*
85 f/1.8 handling is very weird on big camera like D700, for me i can spot the colour difference compared to 1.4D... 1.8D is like missing something, not to mention the focus ring keep turning everytime u AF doh.gif ..

Well it's personal preference really, i just don't like the 35mm on crop, same as 50mm on FF(that's why i am getting a 85 1.4 to replace it, hopefully soon tongue.gif )

Owned 2 x 85mm before.
And yes I sold it off tongue.gif
You know the reason !
You need 85mm or 135mm for portrait. 50mm is nothing also
Nowadays I use 70200 for portrait tongue.gif
Replacing mine with 24mm soon tongue.gif
*
Wow , rich, 24mm f/1.4g, nice lens brows.gif ...currently on 24-70 + 70-200, need a prime cry.gif
