I hear through the grapevine (i.e. I read on CNET) that a Taiwanese camera lens manufacturer Largan Precision will supply lenses for the forthcoming iPad 2. Well, that’s nothing that shocking, since most people already didn’t understand why the iPad 1 didn’t already have a camera. Big reason for me to wait for the iPad 2 to come out. What other features would Apple need to equip the iPad 2 with to keep competing with all other tablets popping out from anywhere?

nothing at all. they've already sold over 6 million iPads worldwide. has anyone else even come close?

personally, I want facetime, 3G on all models and a Retina Display, before I get my own iPad.

I agree with the article on thenextweb.. I’m definitely one of the Apple users who have been longing for the USB-ports to be implemented with the iPad. Apart from that, a front face camera for conference calling.

yeah think the camera aint a big surprise, together with the retina display. proly a usb input wud b a shock. think no need for that. perhaps a lighter and less bulkier iPad wud b more appreciated.

Cheaper?

The current iPad are still selling strong. Went to Machines at Sunway Pyramid after office on Friday, and people are still lining up to get the iPad.

we have to wait approximately 7 months to get our hands on iPad locally, then a new refreshed model is in the pipeline?? How long we have to wait for the new model? Bet our neighbor down south will get the 1st taste of a refreshed iPad.

Malaysia is quite slow.
It took them this long to get the iPad officially launch here.
Don't get me wrong I support my country and all but simply the waiting game to wait for the iPhone and iPad for example is just too long.

Singapore is my best bet so far and guarantee the rest of us will try and get it somewhere else.

Hope the upcoming iPad would have all the beauty that makes iPhone 4 and perhaps cheaper price maybe to compete with all the new upcoming tabs from other company??

heard a few more updates. the ipad 2 will have landscape mode output together with the current potriat mode output that is one the ipad now.

oh and i heard the new iPhone has heartbeat sensor! guess we shall all wait and see just how true these are.

retina display is pretty much out of the question for a device the size of iPad... retina display refers to having >300 ppi.. which works on a small screen device like iphone 4.. on a 9.7" screen, you need about 2560x1440 (http://members.ping.de/~sven/dpi.html) resolution capable screen to achieve that pixel density.

Imagine the processing power and juice needed to just drive the graphics on that screen... even desktop based cards have a problem when driving graphics at that resolution...

wandering whether i'm doing a right choice buying ipad now. Planning to buy wifey an ipad today.. yet, on looking competitor's device spec in comparison; android tablet, playbook, etc. yes, apple just lacked a lot of thing, they will came up with improved version, which is ipad 2nd gen - with higher res, camera, HD-video recording, facetime, etc.

So, now i confused. Wanna go for ipad 1st gen or just wait to see the trend

Till the iPad 2 officially reached Malaysia, I think is around Nov and Dec edy...so if we buy iPad now, stil gt one year to use before we can change to iPad 2

i no need think i need facetime for ipad...ipad is kind of heavy if u holding for quit sometime...currently, my i4 n mb facetime cn serve me well..so ipad, leave it for easy surfing, some gaming n heavy on ibook!!

i got iphone 4 also dun bother to use facetime.

facetime is nice...very clear if speed is fast...so i can always chat with my mama at hometown, fren at oz or bro in sg...

if the ipad 2nd gen got this app with higher res, camera, HD-video recording, facetime, etc. the price should be higher...and the quality of the images is same like iPhone4...not really 'cun'

where got raise price so much. just like versions of iphone, there is a slight increase in price with the older models being offered at promo price.

but we prolly get late 2nd qtr or 3rd qtr 2011 coz of our late release of ipad 1. thats fine with me even when i got ipad 1 early so already use kao kao.

for me...i am using my ipad as a my portfolio to show to the client beside playing games (my wife and my daughter) and browsing the inthernet...also show off little bit la...hahaha as a photographer i dont need the camera on the ipad...i will using my ipad until i can afford to buy a new one (2nd gen or 3rd gen)

My colleague went to Shenzhen foxconn n saw the ipad2 chasis are already on production. Like apple normal cycle, new iPad expect to be launch feb-apr at some pri 1 country.

if i am stevie joobs, i'd launch an ipad which is half the size of the first one so i can sell both ipads to the world instead of a replacement model. one big, one smaller so caters to a wider scope.

im seeing rumours flying around abt ipad mini too...hmm...will steve job really eat his own words? few more weeks to find out?
