EXT4 generally have more writes than EXT2. When there's more writes to be done, it's slower. When data not written, it stays in buffer the buffer uses more disk partition. Lol. Hope I am clear. So, it's give and take. That's why I say the experience is passive. It's no big deal, just experiment on each filesystem for a few days.

I just flashed to Trasig's Voodoo RC1. Superb. It's not just flying, it's dashing and flying. It's even faster than my iPod now. (On speedmod was also faster). The extra speed came from /sys partition mounted in EXT4 and also 1.2ghz OC. Too bad, I think this kernel is going to eat up battery faster. Going to have a run for a full day first.

Omg! Samsung did it again! made us wait and anticipate that a dual core processor is coming to Nexus S and then this? Worst battery life, slightly heavier, BT 2.1, no FM radio? What is this? iPhone 3G?

Nope, the I9200 rom won't work on our SGS. Going to brick the phone that's it.

Maybe Google's quoted numbers for the Nexus S are the realistic ones while Samsung's claimed figures for the SGS are really hogswallop..  wink.gif

Ha ha, downloaded the I9200XXJP2.rar file to check it out.. Definitely not gonna work with our SGS - only 2 weirdly named files inside - modem.img and ubi.img.
*
Yeah and the delay, from 11th nov to 16th dec dunno for what... Samsung couldn't deliver, just throw out a reason to cover. But on the bright side, looks like our SGS specs is as good as the best right now.

Really curious how much linpack will Nexus S score since Nexus One scored at 45+ and it's impossible to get that score on our Hummingbird, max I got was 19. hmm.gif

"Firstly, the phone is fast. We mean blazingly fast. Not only that, but the animations, touch response and general framerate on everything seems to be cranked closer to the vicinity of the iPhone 4."

Damn it Samsung, Nexus S is really fast in stock OS.  mad.gif or is it because of Gingerbread optimize 3d engine? Love the NFC thingy.
*
That's because gingerbread support 32 bit colour and alpha blending channel. It futher enhance the UI and graphics on the phone. This helps in speed and smoothness, graphics becomes smoother as well. No more dithering that you can see when you set high res pics to the wallpaper. rclxms.gif I love this. It means apps will look refined and more polished. rclxm9.gif

I am positive that SGS will be performing likewise on Gingerbread.

Get SGS anyway. By the time Nexus S is available for sale in Malaysia, it would be early 2011 d. Look at Desire HD, still not available till gingerbread also here d. By next year more phones will pop up (motorola, LG) , bigger dilemma for u.

Erm, you're owning a Samsung product. I can safely say not until 6 months later? =.=

http://pocketnow.com/android/nexus-s-ditch...le-microsd-slot
There's no sd card slot for Nexus S. I read that they did this to counter Apple's claim that, App2sd is troublesome when people wanna change SD card and the game is not in there. It looks to be partly because Google wanna be a gaming platform. Gingerbread devices is supposed to use less internal ram and hence more usable ram.

Did you recently flash a new framework? Battery mod or theme?
If so, you got the wrong theme template. Get a theme template for your current firmware eg XXJPU stock template. Extract and put in your framework-res.apk and tw-framework-res.apk into the template and flash it.

ARGH!! I CANT DECIDE WHICH

Added on December 10, 2010, 11:19 pm@freakfingers, what's your feedback on Darky's rom so far??
*
Oh, compared to how I feel about Doc's Ultraslim XXJPU v2 (didn't try the full one), I prefer Darky's much much more. It feels more stable and complete. The theme can also be used on Doc's rom. You try both la and write a review here.

if only i can confirm if the framework from Darky can be copy/paste into Doc's.. I might wanna try it biggrin.gif

Darky GPS not as accurate and not as fast as i was in Doc's sad.gif

I can confirm that you can use Darky's framework on Doc's. I always change modify my own framework.
I also have bad GPS on Darky's but still sticking to it cos it's more responsive than Doc's v3 for me.
