klseet, "The download/upload speed between 0.8~2.5MB only, I'll never get more than 3MB on my VIP5."

This is what you shoud get:
VIP5 download & Upload speed is 550KB/s ~ 600KB/s, Where did you get 2.5MB ~ 3MB/s?
VIP20 = 2MB/s

Yes, they will charge if there are extra work...such as fiber optics go thru the roof. Extra CAT5e cables usually RM10 / 1 meter. Extra charges sometime can go up to RM700 +++..Better nego with them else DIY.

Not really duit kopi. Telekom instruct them to do the easy installation with minimum drilling. Go up the roof, hide the cables, Indoor fiber optics more than 15 meters..etc is extra charges.

Some contractor even dare to ask for duit kopi (RM200) even tho it is an easy installation...This i don't pay

As for my house, they only need to do:
1, Outdoor termination
2, Indoor termination (Cable installation done by me in less then 10 mins)
3, Configure the Modem, D-Link router & IP TV (House network CAT5e Cable already done 1 week before Unifi Installation)

All this took them 2 hrs !! slow like snail...

Go up the roof is easy, just that if they crash the roof..etc who going to be responsible? you can call Unifi sales they will inform you that their contractor will charge customer for the extra service.

I have assist 5 of my friends to register & install unifi. I will know if they want "duit kopi" smile.gif

The worst that i encountered is,
Out door termination behind the house going up to the roof to the front master bedroom (Modem, d-link router).
From master bedroom Cat5e (our own) pull to ground floor living room IPTV
Total RM700 !! rclxub.gif
Manage to nego until RM250 rclxms.gif

"turn off the Wifi Protection Service" it's a very bad thing to do, unless you are generous to share your internet with your neighborhoods..

Something Else,

The free 15 meters is their indoor fiber optics cable (white color)+ 30 meters casing . CAT 5e have to pay extra.

Better to buy the CAT 5e & DIY pull the cable to your ground floor TV. Homeplug is good if your house is using single phase fuse box.

Added on December 24, 2010, 9:45 pmNeed some suggestion on the router for unifi.
My current Linksys WRT54GL (DD-WRT) can't manage the traffic well on Unifi. Looking for more powerful router such as Asus RT-N16, Linksys E3000 or any suggestion. The router must be able to support DD-WRT / tomato Firmware.

Thanks

SoulReaver, maybe you missed this:
Once again, IPTV is not mentioned but it should still be accessible using the standard IPTV port on the DIR-615 (LAN port 4 -- RED). Take note that the Fiberhome/ZTE VDSL is wired into the DIR-615's WAN port. The DIR-615's LAN port 3 is then wired into the WAN port of your own router. This configuration will setup the VLAN-physical port bridge on LAN port 3 of your DIR-615.

but the contract date is calculated from the starting date of VIP5 or Biz5?
*
Contract renew once you upgraded.
For example you have used VIP5 for 5 months (contract 2 yrs),
upgrade to BIZ5 today & the 2 years contract starts today.

aiyoyoyo, Can try this TP-Link TL-WN7200ND 150Mbps High Power Wireless USB Adapter for about RM65 ~ RM90. Another options is TP-Link TL-WR841ND v7.1 (request the beta firmware from klseet) for about RM90 +/- to replace the D-link 615

jaaroquai, assign PS3 MAC address as exempt will do the job. This does not affect the other user who are browsing and streaming.

jaaroquai,
Asus RT-N16 + DD-WRT firmware.
Static = Fixed LAN IP
DMZ = demilitarized zone
