I just check with my local agent to set up unifi at my apartment, according to him, the optic cable will just be installed till level 5 of the building and i live in level 7. So he told me that after level 5, they will change to copper cable. I ask if this will affect the performance, and he say just a little.
I wish to now for those who install unifi on high rise building, do you know this and does the performance really affected and by how much?
Thank you

QUOTE(amirsubhi @ Jan 1 2011, 05:07 PM) actually...doesnt matter which floor u live..even in level 1 but TOTAL Floor is more than 5, U will getting VDSL(using copper) instead of Fibre Optic But there are special case where some condo more than 5 floors having fibre optic instead of VDSL, as far as i know 1 condo at Midah area..near shopping complex and fire station. Nyway as for perfomance.the ping might be higher than optic, for example optic might be around 5ms while vdsl around 20ms Thank you for the info, so if they change to copper cable after level 5, does this affect the download speed? I use this mostly for gaming, so will this be affected? Thank you

QUOTE(jaaroquai @ Jan 14 2011, 08:27 PM) hi, need advice here. unifi now available in my area. so was thinking of switching to unifi either vip5 or maybe vip10. my main concern is online gaming with ps3. is unifi better if 3 machines are sharing the connection at the same time while playing ps3 online. for some reason, especially football game (winning eleven) for ps3, i need to turn off other machines except for the ps3 in order to get good latency. will unifi give better latency even when the line is shared simultaneously. no issue for other games though. and what about the capping thingy. thanks Added on January 14, 2011, 8:30 pmjust checked at unifi website, doesnt say about the installation fees except for vip20 which is free at the moment. and ye 1 month subscription free for online registration. Bro i take VIP5 simply for ps3 gaming, just before i get to test it, 1 day later after installation, sudah KO my Unifi, now waiting for their technician to revert back to me as i already made a report. So from my side, i u got to wait to hear from me again on PS3 gaming, but according to my fren who is using VIP5 for ps3 gaming as well, not a single lag in FPS... not sure abt football game thou Of unifi, i havent even really tasted your power, why you let me down so quick

I am having this problem, installed this last thursday, use it and it was wonder.
Next day, down. Eventually IPTV and Phone is ok, Modem light all on except for the internet and the globe light is orange. Cant get online. Make a report, they came on saturday, eventually tweak with the cabling and told me that i shouldnt put the yellow cable from the modem to the router on the 4th line, should put it on the 1st line, but i remember their technician was the one setting it up and i didnt even touch a thing.
But sure enough, it solve the problem, and happily using it on whole sunday.
TOday i came back from work, start it, and while surfing like a few mins, it start to go like dc for 2-3 mins, connect back, then dc for a few mins, then connect back. It was annoying as i am constantly on my youtube streaming.
So i restart the power. When on back, the orange light is back on the globe on the router. I restart a few time and the problem still the same, orange on the globe and cant log into internet.
Frustratedly, i call again, and here we go again on the whole process of toubleshooting. But kudos to the tele-technical girl who was patient enough to lead me through the process, but without any positive result.
Lastly, she create a report for me and told me within 24 hours, someone will call me. I hang up the phone, when to bath, and the line got back on. I am confuse. However, the net still wasnt stable, 2-3 mins of surfing, it went down for a few mins then connected again, and continue.... darn it was frustrated...
I suspect it was the router, can i use other router to substitute this one?
Thank you

QUOTE(sil3ntHunt3r @ Jan 18 2011, 11:30 AM) You are using DIR-615 wireless correct? If yes, it is advisable to use other wireless router as ur AP. TM DIR-615 commonly known for having issue with wireless. Contact MX510. He currently using BIZ5 package at home. i am using the router they give, is that DIR-615? ANyway, i got an extra wireless router linksys, would it work? i dunno how to configurate the router with iptv wor?

I been using my first Laptop for work and stuff, 2nd laptop as backup and rarely use. But somehow, firsy laptop keep giving me a problem of dc and in-stable line through wifi-unifi while the second laptop was smooth and ok.
But i use my first laptop at office through wifi too (P1) and it work fine.
So i am confuse if it was my laptop wireless network configuration went wrong or something else.
Thank

QUOTE(Andy72 @ Jan 21 2011, 08:11 AM) It might be a compatibility issue between your first laptop's wireless adapter and the wireless router. Try updating the drivers for the wireless adapter. I had an issue with my Linksys Wireless Adapter and my DIR-655 router last time. The PC automatically reboot when it tries to communicate with the router. Updating the drivers solved the problem. THank a lot, will try this later
