I have a question about using the DR615 as a VLAN bridge - as described Rizvanrp in his UNIFI website.
If I set it up and connect to my 1043ND router as described, does it mean that the DR615 is bridging at 100Mbps?
You see the reason I am got the 1043ND is also because of its Gigabit Lan ports. So with DR 615 I am limited to the speed provided by DR615 port which is 10/100Mbps right?
Hmm in which case if I want a Gigabit Lan throughout my house (wired) then I will also want a Mikrotik RB250GS so my VLAN bridge is capable of 1G lan connections with Cat6 cables

Added on January 11, 2011, 6:37 pmAlso with the setup I mentioned earlier, is the USB port in the DR615 still enabled?

And does it mean that I will enable my DHCP on my own router ie 1043ND

Thank you very much for answering my questions

Added on January 11, 2011, 6:42 pmwill the gigabit port actually make any difference at all in my internet access experience?

Added on January 11, 2011, 6:42 pmI guess I am just trying to figure out if it is worth it to get the Mikrotik switch

I dont have unifi yet but yeah DIR615 vlan bridge will be 100mbps, but it only bettween your DIR615 to 1043ND you LAN can utilize the gigabit port on your 1043ND
*
yes but the 1043ND also has a 10/100/1000 Wan Port that would be connected to the DR615 10/100 Lan port --- so my question is really if both ports were gigabit ports would my internet access be faster?
Of course theoretically I guess it would be sufficient since my internet access for Unifi at maximum can only go up to 20MBps

Courtesy from TP-Link representative Oscar from LowYat Plaza, who passed me the new TL-WR841ND Ver:7.2 yesterday for testing! biggrin.gif

I tested this hardware with the beta firmware on my FTTH Huawei HG850a, left it on stress test since last night with uTorrent & IPTV (HD channel 144) continuously for more than 15 hours, no problem at all!  rclxms.gif

Document updated here: http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...e&id=7&Itemid=6

TP-Link still need more time to finalise testing & internal QA procedure before releasing the 841 official firmware.

Also started to discuss next higher-end device, most likely TL-WR1043ND, will start after the 841 official, stay-tuned for more update! icon_rolleyes.gif
Yes I do notice the setup document need further detail & explanation, give me sometime I'll update it accordingly! nod.gif

Wow thanks klseet, I will be waiting for that firmware upgrade for 1043ND,
Just bought mine last saturday and its a sturdy piece of engineering. The wireless connection is the most stable I've seen in a while (used to have a belkin and a netgear)

Thought that I could just swap the DIR 615 crap. After replace realized it didn't work Arrghhh! then only surf the web to find solution and found out why it doesn't work vmad.gif (monopolistic tm vmad.gif )

Came upon yours and rizvanpr website which is a godsend ...... suddenly there is light in the dark tunnel!!

Worked late last night and came home to solve my problem with rizvanpr's steps to make DIR 615 into a VLan bridge ... and it worked! rclxm9.gif
Now I have a gigabit lan with Wireless N capable of transfering 300Mbps to my Ipad and Android phone, thumbup.gif

But whenever I see that that ugly white and orange box with the two silly white horns I get damn angry again, I feel like TM is taunting me because my connection from the DIR 615 to the 1043ND is still at 10/100 Mbps.

Now you have brought me the greatest news of all ..... a firmware that will allow me to configure the 1043ND to have VLan so I can have pure gigabit joy rclxm9.gif
Thank you thank you thank you to TP Link ... you rock!

question - would my connection to the IPTV STB be a gigabit connection too ???

brianiac,
Gigabit connection, actual speed how much u get?
*
About 4.98MBps both ways.

But the funny thing is that when I use speedtest.net to measure it places my IP in Sarawak (spinning pyramid)-- why leh?

Anybody able to make the vlan bridge for DIR615 G2?
I try all night follow rizvanrp guide, but no luck at all.
=.=

Could be a couple of things

USE Method 2 - which is manual, I also assume you have used the correct ports ie Port 1 of GPON to WAN port of DIR 615; Port 3 of DIR 615 to WAN Port of your router

1. you need to make sure you physically switch off your DIR 615 for it to reboot properly (i made this mistake and when I actually pulled out the plug and put it back it worked)

2. You will need to switch on your devices in a certain order. Switch off all your devices, then switch on the Huawei GPON modem first, make sure all the lights are on.
then switch on your DIR 615, make sure the "on" light is green and the internet (globe) light is orange, and port 3 light is green. Then switch on your router.

I think its because the DHCP is still on for the DIR 615 - ie I presume port 1 and 2 can be still used as a normal LAN connection.

The other thing I did (which was not in the guide) was to make sure my router was a different IP address to the DIR 615 eg
DIR 615 is set at 192.168.01 as default so I reconfigured my router to be 192.168.1.x.

I just terminated my unifi and wanted to apply again, but the assistant in the phone told me i can't register with my name anymore, is that true?
*
Err do you mind me asking why?
You mean they installed Unifi and then you cancelled and now you want to re-apply again?

I believe you would have had to pay the penalty, in which case, if you paid in full, they should not deny you from re-applying again.
If you did not pay then your old account shows an outstanding amount, and you will probably not be able to re-apply until that is cleared.

Standard TV quality on a normal analog TV, Slightly more "brighter' than a normal Astro show

Is it true that Unifi HyppTV (or whatever it's called) requires HDMI connection to the TV?  I'm using CRT TV, does this mean I cannot use HyppTV?  I'm considering getting VIP5 (RM149) to replace my 384kbps Streamyx line (RM61) and Astro (RM95).
