I just bought the Black Widow Ultimate. First impression, this keyboard is so freaking small compared to my Sidewinder X6. The keys are kinda weird too, lol. It makes clicking sound and is rather noisy in a quiet room.

Yes, I mean I didn't expect it to be so overly noisy laugh.gif I need to take time and get use to this now.

The key surface is matte black and rough compared with X6 but the noise is really like typewriter, lol. I've tried playing a little bit of Black Ops with it and not bad, enjoyed it but even with head phone I can still listen to the clicking sound most of the time biggrin.gif

Lot people buy the keyboard just to listen the sound, but if say you are student sharing a room with roommate, then it really sucks. Your house mate no need to sleep whenever you use the keyboard.
Thanks but I'm actually married without kids smile.gif I know it will make some sound but I never expected it would be so loud, lol

hey guys, any reviews by some users for Razer Mamba here?\
hope to hear some pro n cons before getting it.. biggrin.gif
thanks.
*
The software is buggy and laggy, battery life is terrible smile.gif The Microsoft X8 pwns the Mamba in these 2 areas but on the other hand, the Mamba has better precision.

that sounds like a complete turn down..  cry.gif
anymore cons of the MAMBA?
*
That's the 2 main cons, other than that the mouse is fine. If you're a hardcore gamer planning to play on wireless all day long then I'm sorry, the battery will go flat within 2 hours or so smile.gif

QUOTE(chiahau @ Dec 26 2010, 10:40 AM)
LOL~

This is the time for you to go test the mouse 1st before hearing any form of critics from others. I own a mamba, don't find the software buggy nor laggy compared to my Orochi.

Its only that Mamba requires a peddle-stone 2 use wireless unlike Orochi that made it fall out of my favor recently.
*
If you don't compare then obviously you think your Mamba works fine smile.gif Now I've owned plenty of mouse and I hope I don't have to list all of them down and comparing Sidewinder X8 and Mamba, the battery life and software for Mamba sucks totally. If you think your Mamba's drivers/application is running without lag, wait till you try the Sidewinder X8's application. My friend and I have since sold this Mamba off and mind you, we bought it RM440 when it was launched about a month.

the scroll wheel tends to have creaking sound after a while of use, say a few months.....u may send it in for warranty of it but problem will come back.....my friend is on his 3rd Mamba....n the sound is starting to come back....I have sent mine for warranty for the same problem....still waiting it to come back. Now using my Logi VX Revo.

All I can say for Razer products is that the build quality is crap....

Performance wise, its one of the fastest and most precise wireless mouse out there.....

And indeed, the software for Mamba is also crap, lags like hell....end up, I didnt even install the software anymore....
*
I agree boss smile.gif That's why I find it weird how come someone can say the Mamba software is NOT LAGGY. Maybe he has not used any other gaming mouse before ever in his life and Mamba is his first. I've had quite a number of Razer products and no doubt they have good design but quality is very very filmsy and bad. My advice is, DON'T buy the Mamba.

I don't assume things smile.gif I input based on my real life experience and if I don't own it, I don't comment unlike most people that likes to mislead others when they don't even own that product. You must also understand every product is different even it's from the same company. The only reason people say Razer has good quality is because they never used other brands. If you compare build quality against Steelseries of the same range, you will get what I mean smile.gif

QUOTE(chiahau @ Dec 26 2010, 05:35 PM)
Again, I give my own opinion. It works fine for me. Does that mean that it will suit your needs? No right? I find the buggy and laggy firmware stg acceptable as it does not really affect me doing whatever I'm doing. I still can set my macros n etc and use em.

FYI, I do own a huge list of gaming mouse ranging from the Mx510 to SS to Roccat n etc. Does not mean I say the thing is good, its damn good. It all boils down to your own damn opinion. Say what you want, but the fact that I sidelined already the Mamba is a clear reason there's issues with it. Its just that we both have different issues with the mouse.

I rest my case then. Let the discussion roll on.  laugh.gif
*
It's alright to say your own opinion but it is WRONG when you label other people's opinion as baseless like what you've mentioned earlier. If you expect yourself to give opinions then please respect other's too smile.gif The other problem is fan-boyism. It's very common among typical Malaysians especially lowyat.net members whereby if they own something expensive, they praise the product like some God made product.

maybe u been plain unlucky like someone else here  whistling.gif
over the last few yrs i've never had any mouse breakdown on me, be it razer or steelseries or logitech.
the razer mouse i've used the longest would have to be the copperhead for 2.5yrs.
*
I'm not saying the mouse breaks down but it's the build quality of it. Of course it's usable but if it's filmsy and fragile (if you get what I mean). The battery life of Mamba is indeed disappointing if you compare against other wireless gaming mouse.

QUOTE(mirako88 @ Dec 26 2010, 07:10 PM)
Seriously Mamba is overprice. rm400 for a mouse is too much unless you are damn pro playing in PFS.
I better use the rm400 on other to improve my playing skill...
So, I think I have make up my mind I going for Orochi then...
Btw, isit alot diff between 2000dpi while wireless while 4000dpi on cable?
anyone can help me on this?
*
It is indeed overpriced smile.gif I agree with you on that but myself being a gadget freak, I just buying whatever to try things out. After that I can well conclude that Mamba isn't worth the money at all. My friend owns the Mamba and we bought together. If you ask him how's the Mamba, he will say throw it into the bin. I have another rich water cooling customer which owns the Mamba, he too insists that the mouse is crap. Sometimes when you boot up your PC, it doesn't detect the Mamba (when it's wireless). However if you ask a fanboy, he of course will praise the Mamba as some Godlike mouse.

Wow... It seems like Mamba is rubbish... Or may be it just diff ppl point of view...
Well I don't think Razer cr8 a rubbish mouse right?
what do you think clawhammer?
Orochi is wireless and only have 2000dpi then will it auto change to 4000 when I insert the cable?
and can u suitable with the weight with batt and sometime without batt?
*
I can conclude that Mamba isn't worth the money (RM400+). These are the few common problems by the Mamba but there are also good things like it can provide high dpi and it's precision is excellent. Razer makes good mouse except certain models are just crap, some are plain filmsy and fragile. I never had experiences with the Orochi but as for the weight, it is really subjective. The general idea of getting a good mouse is that as long as your hands fit in well and comfortable, that mouse is well suited for yourself. No point to buy an expensive mouse where it doesn't fit your hands well - you won't be able to enjoy good gaming due to that as well.

R U willing to part over RM400 for a mouse?
Do U need the performance, dpi, precision?
Can U live with the underlying issues?
Do U really need it wireless?
Actually if the mouse is really good and live up to expectations, I really don't mind spending even RM500 for it (being a gadget freak) biggrin.gif Precision, dpi, performance is definitely there but if the software is laggy, mouse cannot be detected in wireless mode sometimes and low battery life is a total turn off. I wanted wireless because I thought it makes my desk neater but moving from Sidewinder X8 to Mamba is such a big difference because the X8's battery can last so much longer than the Mamba. Btw, I was on around 2000+ dpi, not even the max dpi. If I had it at the maximum, battery life might be worse?

Actually if you have a big monitor like 30" with 2560x1600, those extra dpi would help but again, 3200 dpi or more is just madness smile.gif I really have no idea how to use it and the mouse is almost like out of control laugh.gif For me, it's always within the 2000+ dpi range so anything extra is just a plus which is not normally used.

Thanks yupio for the honest opinion biggrin.gif I guess we are the same and have tried both mouse. Yes the Razer Mamba does a better job as it's smoother and fits our hands a lot better. However the battery life is just a turn off. I can remember having to use the cable every now and then in the middle of game sad.gif

I guess it'll take a while before battery life of wireless mouse gets better. I think even the current longest lasting battery life cannot satisfy a hardcore gamer.
*
I think if Razer wants to manufacture the product as a gaming mouse, they would need to make sure the battery life is somewhat in an acceptable manner. If we compare other wireless mouse or even Sidewinder X8 (gaming mouse), this Mamba has the worst battery life span of all. I mean if it can only lasts for 2-3 hours, they should do something about it because by calling it "gaming mouse", it should be heavy duty because gamers can play games for hours biggrin.gif Another thing is this mouse is RM400+ so being so expensive, obviously the user would expect it to be worth what he paid for.

Yeah, Razer claims Mamba can go up to 14 hours of gaming. The keyword is "up to" but in actual fact, 4 hours also hard to get. Moreover my dock is so near to my mouse.

Based on how the sensor required the power and the lighting all that, quite impossible for that battery last for 14 hours, the statement considered bluffing.
*
I believe so which is why they say "up to" and not specifically saying it will last 14 hours biggrin.gif Seriously, I never expect the battery life to be so bad. I mean, 2-3 hours is totally unacceptable for what they call a heavy duty "gaming" mouse laugh.gif After that I ended up with Ikari Laser which is wired (again).

Anyone knows what's wrong with my Mamba? I can only right click and unable to move the cursor. I tried the Mamba on other computer as well and also face the same problem. Anyone faced this problem before?
*
Did you flash the firmware and re-install the driver? How about using it with the wire; do you have the same problem? Mamba is a screwed up mouse, never ending problems and terrible battery life smile.gif I got rid of mine just a month of ownership, totally gave up.

If you are having problems when it's wired then something is terribly wrong. I have a friend which he has to RMA within the first week of the same issue, the mouse cursor is not moving at all even in wired mode.

I've used many Razer products and I have the Black Widow Ultimate. So far the most problematic product is the Razer Mamba and really not worth the price! As for the keyboard, it's working fine but the ticking sound is quite loud though laugh.gif
