Hi guys,

Just to share with you.

Last year I went to JPJ to obtain the clearance letter for conversion of SG driving license.

Today while I am in KL, I am still able to renew my MY license.
*
yes...i did renew my MY license at the post office...no problem at all.....just renew it back during CNY period this year

QUOTE(seantang @ Mar 5 2011, 09:43 PM)
No problem so long as Malaysia maintains the treaty with Singapore (if it's not evergreen). Having said that, your mileage may vary when dealing with individual policemen or JPJ officers who are looking for an excuse to give you some headache.

I do see various websites stating that foreign driving licences are only valid for 3 months in Malaysia. This includes the website for the British High Commission in KL. However I couldn't find anything stating that this time limit on UK licences also applies to SG licences, nor find any time limits on any foreign licences in the actual law. Akta 333 only states that licences from treaty countries are recognised as if they are local licences issued by JPJ under the act.
The only complication I can think of on the SG side is if you give up your PR or work permit (or is forced to do so). They may revoke your Singapore driving licence or issue a time-limited one.
*
Seantang: JPJ Akta's didn't specifically said which countries that Malaysia maintains this treaty....also when its stated foreign driving licenses are only valid for 3 months in Malaysia...how to the track or trace to even begin with?

you should start to plan a saving from now. you can self-contributed to your EPF through CIMB clicks/Maybank2u.com every month with condition you have a EPF account. Other saving plans are up to individual. Pls start at least 2 type of savings, plan for retirement, inflation in malaysia is hiking.
anyhow, choice is yours.

back pj average 1-2 times on Fri night every month  smile.gif ... should any good offer from KL drops by, wanna back kl instead working in sg.
*
u drive back to PJ?or by coach?

my future employer just submitted my EP application today and my joining date is 4/4... we are a bit concern whether we can get the approval before 4/4 or not.. :/

apparently there is some delay in the submission because they are not familiar with twining programme. they question me how come my college name is APIIT but degree cert was issued by some UK university.. and the word "APIIT" is not on the cert at all.. haha..
*
My dip n higher dip certs was issued by APIIT....while the degree cert its by Stafforshire in UK...that's how twinning works....

Hey guys , I got offered with SGD 2.3k but with 2 years bond ... It's a shipyard company ...

Personally, I am expecting atleast 2.5k which eligible for me to apply for EP . I think this employer is not going to apply EP for me given that range of salary ?

Btw, Im fresh graduate with master but only has internship as working experience.

Do you think I am underpaid given that I have to be bonded with the company for 2 years ? ...
*
ya...probably wont be getting EP......for a masters...2.3k i would say its low.....even for fresh grad degree in spore also around there liao....SGD2.5k....btw...better be quick.....cause in a few months time....the levy will go up and EP range salary will be up as well...i think 2.7-2.8k

Also need to check if they recognize your qualification

15% is the non-resident withholding tax rate. It's a flat rate.
*
Different tax rates apply for tax residents and non-residents. You will be treated as a tax resident for a particular Year of Assessment (YA) if you are a:

Singaporean; or
Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) if you have established your permanent home in Singapore; or
Foreigner who stayed/worked in Singapore for 183 days or more in previous year (excludes director of a company).
Otherwise, you will be treated as a non-resident of Singapore for tax purposes.

It is compulsory for the company to issue it, but for me, the company submitted to LHDN.  laugh.gif  laugh.gif
It is just like a procedure if you leave the country, just like withholding your last salary pay.
After that, they approve the release of your last pay.
To avoid red tape, they can give you EA form following year instead (just like you never told them you leaving the country)

CP21 kinda looks like EA form which is not all you need to file income tax.
If you have PCB, you need that sheet too as CP21 does not include those information.  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  (You may have to request from your company)
Other relieves like insurance will only be sent to you next year.
Just remember to file next year during income tax season.
*
Hmm.....i didn't have/need that CP21. Just have a form from the company that states my gross salary then the total EPF contribution and the total PCB(tax deduction)....

Don't worry...when the next's year income tax form comes...just file it up as 0 income.....at least i did return my income tax assessment . Which is what I've been doing for the past 2 years
