For now, I won't take up Singapore citizenship as it's just too expensive to retire in Singapore. And I reckon it's a better idea to work 10-20 years in SG and retire early back to Malaysia with some serious RM savings converted from SGD. Finding a Singaporean wife or getting a couple more promotions may change my mind though.

But I still like the PR status because it gives me an option if race & religion in Malaysia takes a turn for the worse. And crossing the causeway is the only real viable emergency option if any sudden riots ala Indonesia 1998 happens.

Wow, very well said...
I am in agreement with you. The political situation is getting worse everyday.
Apparently, racial discrimination is so prominent nowadays in Malaysia whereby you cant get a fair piece of the economic pie if you are not a Malay or converted Muslim.
Malaysia has only itself to blame as more and more talents and professionals flow to Singapore and her economy fark up-side down to the longkang.. rclxms.gif

Then how about why so many singaporean teenagers arming thier full frame 5DMKII equipped with 70-200mm f2.8L and 580EXII walking around here and there?

While working adults in KL can only afford a 1000D with 18-55mm kit lens.. LOL biggrin.gif

I don't see how Malaysia is better. In Malaysia, you typically have to pay RM1000-1500 more than Singapore for the newer smartphones. And even though you're not on contract, you still have to pay significant monthly subscription and airtime charges no matter how many times you switch. At the end of the day, the immediate cash savings on hardware is way more than the cumulative DIFFERENTIAL between the monthly charges you have to pay - stretched over 2 years.

In any case, there is NO mobile plan in Malaysia that gives you voice (with free minutes and sms) and 12GB of 3.5G HSDPA data for the RM equivalent of S$38*1.07.

Wow, really good at expressing the above statement.. rclxms.gif
BTW, are you an accountant? I have seen many accountants out there in really good at doing up a CBA whenever they spend. Even those petty things in life.
I am an engineer. I feel that whenever it is worth, i will spend. As easy as ABC. icon_rolleyes.gif

ur gf can't get PR or citizenship. u can try apply but the chances are very very slim. But as long as both of you are legally married, you can apply for a long term dependent pass for her in Malaysia.
*
Ya, my fren oso told me is slim because we are chinese and not malay.. maybe this is the disadvantage of getting a singaporean gf.

No wonder, many Malaysians is more prefer to get a Malaysian gf unless u r willing to stuck in SG for the rest of your life.

I mean whether he has a degree. ACCA is a professional qualification... not unlike a commercial driving licence, not a tertiary education.
*
Nope, he only has a ACCA..

BTW, do u know of any good websites for searching jobs besides JobsDB? Thanks.

Hi guys,

Just to share with you.

Last year I went to JPJ to obtain the clearance letter for conversion of SG driving license.

Today while I am in KL, I am still able to renew my MY license.

nice, but what's the benefits of doing so? my Sg license is sgd50 for life.
*
The benefit is due to the prominent corruption in Malaysia despite rumours states that SG license is recognised in Malaysia....But who knows?

If you are stopped by a police in Malaysia, would you show your SG license to the police or MY license to the police?

Just like you are driving a MY car and your fren is driving a SG car in Malaysia, both being stopped by the police? You see who will kena more? Who need to pay more kopi??
