CH SACKED!!! icon_idea.gif

Newcastle United have sacked Chris Hughton, just 13 months after he was first named the club's manager on a permanent basis.

A statement on Newcastle's official website said: "Newcastle United Football Club have today parted company with manager Chris Hughton. Goalkeeping coach Paul Barron also leaves the club today.

"The board would like to place on record their thanks to Chris for his considerable efforts during the club's transition from Championship to Premier League football. Chris has shown exceptional character and commitment since being appointed manager in October 2009. The club wishes him well for the future.

"Regrettably the board now feels that an individual with more managerial experience is needed to take the club forward. The task of appointing a new manager now begins. An announcement will be made shortly regarding transitional arrangements pending the appointment of a successor."

Newcastle set to sign Larsson

Newcastle United have reportedly had a £1.5 million bid for Swedish winger Sebastian Larsson accepted by Birmingham.

Magpies manager Alan Pardew is eager to sign Larsson after his bid to to sign David Bentley from Tottenham Hotspur hit the skids.

The former Arsenal midfielder has six months left on his contract at St Andrews but has turned down improved terms from Birmingham.

Sunderland are also chasing the signiture of Larsson, but manager Steve Bruce is only prepared to pay £1 million for the 25-year-old.

i think selling carroll for 35m is good business..
ofcourse if ashley keeps the money or cant spend it before the deadline closes is of no use to us too.. i hope we manage to sneak in some last minute replacements..

and its great that we manage to sign ireland.. ireland on his day is an excellent cm.. lets hope pardew can motivate him back to his old self..

and finally.. guess who's back in the premiere league?

QUOTE(Notoriez @ Feb 6 2011, 09:28 AM)
LOL.

Bashing our own supported team is part & parcel of becoming a football fan. But as long we stayed loyal to the club we loved, it's fine to my standards smile.gif

Being a Toon Army supporter itself already has it own merits. Is there any other experience supporting another club in the world, quite like that you can get as a NUFC fan? From anger, to hope, to sadness, to despair, to disbelief, to shock, to horror, to tears, to happiness.....and all in the space of a week....

Frankly speaking, when Arsenal went 3-0 i feared for the worst that we might get beat 8-0 seriously. Every time when they attacked, they looked like scoring & our normally reliable Colo + Williamson look disjointed. @ 4-0, i went back to the room to update my FB + Lowyat status. Smoked at least 6 cigs during the first half due to stress  rolleyes.gif

Went back to watch the game @ 50th minute then saw Barton was pushed to the ground and Diaby get red carded. Im telling myself, maybe we could pull two goals off the Gunners provided we pplay like usual (spirit & determination) & oh boy i thought when we got the 2nd goal from Best i was thinking maybe we can get another goal which we did LOL. Tiote's goal was the highlight of the match. Was jumping up & down with JOY. What a great comeback....getting alot of congratulatory messages from Man Utd  + Pool friends LOL

+1

every fan has the right to support the team their way as they are forking out their own money to support the team..
i dont give two hoots what other fans think about how other fans should behave.. whistling.gif

for the 1st 26 minute, the team deserves all the curses that they receive because of the epic shitty display of conceding 4 goals!
once they buck up and produce results do they ONLY deserve any compliments that came their way..

it WAS an epic comeback.. coming back from 4 goals down is unheard of.. those who dissed the team with 4 goals down was reacting NORMALLY cos 99% of us knows no team in recent EPL history had came back with 4 goals down.. so there is nothing to be ashamed of for dissing the team at the right moment.. but i do find another fan branding other fans shameless to be a shameful act.. what gives him the right to brand others? whistling.gif

Newcastle leading chase for Ewerthon
February 6, 2011
By ESPNsoccernet staff

Newcastle are leading the race to sign Brazilian free agent Ewerthon, according to reports.

The club are struggling for strikers, despite coming from behind to net four goals in a 4-4 draw with Arsenal on Saturday, as Andy Carroll moved to Liverpool, Shola Ameobi is facing months on the sidelines after fracturing his cheekbone and now Leon Best is suffering with a hamstring injury.

Newcastle are not able to sign players unless they are emergency loans or free transfers and, given that former Dortmund striker Ewerthon, 29, left Palmeiras by mutual consent early in January, he has jumped to the top of the list.

The player's agent Barry McIntosh admitted talks with a number of clubs were ongoing.

"A number of clubs like Ewerthon, he is a free agent and is looking to seal his next move," McIntosh told skysports.com. ''It is no secret that a number of Premier League clubs are keen on him.

"I am not going to go into details about who we are talking with, but if you're asking me about whether he would move to Newcastle? Then yes, obviously they are a calibre of club he would very much consider playing for."

Meanwhile, Andrei Arshavin has said Wenger was stunned into silence in the aftermath of the result.

"He didn't say anything at all to us," he said. "He was disappointed and distraught too, like any man would be in his shoes and under such circumstances.

"Naturally, we were all sad - only Manchester United being defeated later that night sweetened the pill a bit - but we are not psychologically broken. We just cannot afford to be.

"If we want to win, we must not be sitting and moaning. We need to analyse that unfortunate match and draw the right conclusions from it.

"That day is over and left behind. We need to think and prepare for the next match in the Premier League against Wolves."

He added: "What happened was something unbelievable with a tragic end for us. It was as if there was a magnet behind one of the goals because all eight were scored in it."

he would be good playing in the wings.. if he gets knocked off the ball atleast there's a chance he won a free kick for the team..
loved watching him dribble past 3 players in the last stoke game.. wicked.. thumbup.gif
