Here are some EASYCAP tutorials and guides for you wink.gif (For GRABBER guide, I will post it upon request)

Brief Tutorial on How To Setup (can refer the included English instruction manual)
1. Install driver from CD - after install complete, check got "USB 2861 device" and "USB EMP Audio device" under device manager.
2. Install Ulead software from CD - serial number found on back of CD cover.
3. Run Ulead VideoStudio Editor > Click blue "Capture" button on top > Click "Capture Video" on the panel.
4. Your laptop webcam softwares will probably pop out, just close. (Mine did). Another pop out to detect device/field order will pop out, click ok.
5. Click "Option" on panel > click "Video and Audio Capture Property Settings" > choose composite or s-video for source (depend on how you connect easycap)
6. Choose Pal or NTSC for tv system (I use NTSC)
7. Under Audio device, choose the "USB EMP Audio" and tick "Preview audio with USB device".
8. Change whatever capture resolution/brightness/audio settings as you want or you can watch this video for best quality settings!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ad8Sutjfqk <---- Recommended!!!
9. If success, ENJOY! rclxms.gif or if fail, contact me lor... icon_question.gif

Brief Tutorial on How to create video using Ulead and Easycap:
1. Capture your video with max resolution with start capture and stop capture buttons.
2. Drag the thumbnail of the video to timeline (make sure only one video and not strings of video!)
3. Click on Share tab
4. Click on Create Video File
5. Choose from the menu WMV HD PAL (1280x720, 25fps) or you can make your own profile from Custom/Options.
6. Your mpeg-file video will be converted from DVD format (720x576px) to HD WMV-file (1280x720px). Enjoy! thumbup.gif

How to remove black borders and resize to the HD size with VirtualDub:
Captured with EasyCap DC60+ v3.1B and Ulead VideoStudio 10.
Then I opened it to VirtualDub and removed black borders and resized it to HD size 1280 x 720px. Then I opened it to Windows Live Movie Maker and saved it to WMV HD 1280x720px. Here is a tutorial for VirtualDub:
1. Capture video with the best resolution
2. Open that video to VirtualDub Editor
3. Play video 2-3frames and stop it
4. Click on Video/Filters/Add/null transform/OK/Cropping
5. Drag the every outer side of black borders with mouse toward the video screen so much that black parts are gone
6. Click on OK
7. Click on Filters/Add/Resize/OK/Size Options/New size Absolute/Aspect Ratio Disabled
8. Write New size Absolute 1280 x 720
9. Click on OK
10. Click on OK
11. Click on File/Save as AVI

Here I will compare the two products I'm selling so you can make an informed decision before choosing which to buy! nod.gif

1. EASYCAP DC60+ V3.1C
a) Cheaper!!!
b) Popular capture device!!

2. USB AV GRABBER
a) Component input supported!!!
b) Better video quality!!

Conclusion: flex.gif
If you want to record better quality gameplay videos for current generation consoles (xbox360, ps3, wii), go for GRABBER as it has component input support which render the video produced better in terms of details and colors. Also the component cables is more common than the rare svideo cables for video game consoles. The drawback however, is Grabber has a soft whistling sound in the background. Depends, it may be annoying to some people or you will get used to it. The louder sound of gaming usually making it not obvious, hear it for yourself in my video below.

On the other hand, if you have no need for component input (Ps1, SNES, etc) or better quality, go for EASYCAP as it is cheaper and more widely used by many users. The sharpness and clarity of the fonts can be improved by using svideo cable instead of composite which is on par with the component. So let's see some screenshots to compare!

Legends:
Top picture: Easycap using composite
Middle picture: Easycap using svideo
Bottom picture: Grabber using component

Sure, I have pm you the details and answers, check your inbox smile.gif As for anyone who want to know the answer to your questions too;

1. No CD/DVD-rom. How?
A: No problem. You can transfer the content of the driver/software CD (429Mb) to a usb storage device (at any public pc or cybercafe) and install from there smile.gif

2. Compatible with PS2?
A: Yes, PS2 composite output > Easycap > usb port on pc/laptop.

3. Experience any lag?
A: Depends on your pc/laptop specs. Check the system requirement in post #1. Or tell me your specs and I predict will lag or not.

Yes, basic EasyCaps (DC60 v2.1a, 2.1b and 2.1c) have poor Philips chipset while genuine EasyCap DC60+ v3.1B or newer EzCAP116 have Empia 2861 chipset (as like almost all Dazzle grabbers have Empia 28xx chipset) with full support to PAL60 and NTSC-433. These EasyCap DC60+ v3.1B and EzCAP116 works also with Mac 10.2 and later with VideoGlide, because that software have inside built drivers for Empia 2861 devices. As for other differences between DC60+ v3.1b and others, here;

Easycap features:
1. Support Mac 10.2-10.5
2. 64bit Drivers
3. Solved SP3 Problem
4. Support PAL60
5. Support NTSC-433
6. Golden RCA
7. Ulead Video Studio 10

Easycap DC60+ v3.1b = all features available! smile.gif Latest version Easycap!
Easycap DC60+ v3.1a = feature 2 and 3 dun have.
Easycap DC60 v2.1c = feature 1 to 5 dun have.

Yes, you should be able to record Astro with it though I have not personally tested it myself since I have no Astro at home. I can try record from a dvd player to show you its video quality if you want smile.gif

Uploaded three more Easycap test recording videos smile.gif

1. 8TV (Malaysia tv channel)

Note: This is an Easycap test recording of 8TV through the tv "monitor out" AV output (red, white, yellow) to a laptop using PAL system and 4:3 ratio. The tv used is a CRT tv with cheap indoor antenna hence the tv reception quality is poor which affect the quality of the recorded video. Also, it's my gaming tv, never watch tv on it before so didn't adjust any contrast/brightness/sharpness settings tongue.gif Please take note if you have Astro/rooftop fish-bone antenna sure better tv reception and better recorded video quality icon_rolleyes.gif

2. TVB dvd

Note: This is an Easycap test recording of TVB dvd through composite AV output (red, white, yellow) to a laptop using PAL system and 16:9 widescreen ratio. You can also change it into 4:3 screen format if you want.

3. Audio quality of my recorded tvb video using Easycap.

Note: The sound of the conversation is clear and loud amid the background music. Good audio quality without stuttering or breaking.

With Easycap, you can edit out your favorite scene of any movie or join multiple scenes of any film to make your own video!! thumbup.gif Any questions, feel free to ask me biggrin.gif

Thanks for your interest and sorry about the late reply, didn't saw your post here, my bad tongue.gif About the sound lag, there is no audio stuttering during previewing but during recording, it does but it stop as soon as you stop recording. However, when you playback your recorded video, the recorded audio is fine, just during recording, video/game may lag a little and audio will stutter smile.gif

Edit: A solution has been discovered and there is now NO MORE audio stuttering during record/preview brows.gif

As I don't have Astro, I can only make speculations on this but I think it's not possible for easycap to record in HD as easycap only have composite and s-video input. You can only use easycap in these ways on Astro.

Method 1: *tv output on the tv*
Connect composite/s-video cable from tv output to easycap for sd recording.

Method 2: *video output on astro box*
Connect composite/s-video cable from astro box to easycap for sd recording.

Look at the input signal to know if can record in hd or not. Normally, if the input signal is only either composite or s-video, it cannot be hd already, just sd quality. If hd quality, must be at least component or hdmi input signal smile.gif A capture card that can record in hd usually cost around RM600-700 or more!!!
