hello there.
how do i make a hole on a metal?
for example this piece of cover

i wan to make a hole to fit this in


what tool to use? how to do?

help appreciated, thankyou in advance.

ultrasonic cutter

rotary tools for precision

better if that cover is metal and not plastic coz plastic easily crack

whrere to get? expensive? i dont intend to spend much.

expensive than just drill it out dont expect it looks nice

hand saw can also but those switch really small to fit properly

no other soloution? i tried with one metal. i drilled a hole, then handsaw it. looks horrible.

if the switch is small, u try slowly drill it, then file it until smooth

tried on a metal. failed.

what is the cheapest dremel tool in the market? how much?
rm50 got?

actually if u can get plastic, more easier..

my faulty gigabyte G-power pro speed fan controller, modd to ccfl switch..

juz using large size scissors to 'korek' then the hole getting bigger so it can fit da switch..

why failed?

the metal kinda tough, and very very hard to control, so went out of shape

1st use the smallest drill bit u can find, the smaller the drill bit the easier to make a hole..
after u get a small hole u can proceed with bigger holes by using bigger drill bit.. slowly until the hole can fit the file then u can make into shapes that u wanted..

can use cone cuts or step drill bit. going to cost some money tho.

or maybe can just send to engineering ask them to help out

how u failed, mind show a pic? i guess the metal u use very thin, so the edge is like wave.
the most cheapeast way, i think.

is there any particular reason u wanna use square switch? otherwise, change to round-shape switch then easier. since u already have a drill then just go get a hole saw. only cost about RM13~18.

ts u must have patience when doing this kind of detailing job =D

u sure hole saw that cheap? that day i went i saw rm70+ leh. the switch for fan and led. haha

i think switch ts showed above hv led inside.. found juz dis type of switch only at electronic shop hv led inside..

yess hav led inside.
