I used to have the diamond mr77 on my roof but troublesome when going into garage or shopping mall. Opted for the bonnet mount although not as good as the roof mr77.
Couple of times killing the florescent tube in shopping mall, have all the broken glass on my truck bed.

Totally agree...im also manage to kill those light even im using kenari (oh well some shopping complex have very low clearance)..and also im using family car..need easy removal/transfer to any car (err except the radio laugh.gif )

Under the PRS (personal radio service)..yes u can used without license..the PMR446 is taken direct from euro standard...but not sure about australia..because the band implementation is quite different.

Hehe..the sirim part..its up to u tongue.gif my opinion the pmr446 is quite useless...it has limited channel (in analog channel) plus it has fixed antenna and 0.5 mW ERP...the 477mhz have more advantage because of number of channel and transmit watt..most of transceiver (hand-held) have around 400-470mhz or 450-520mhz. Another thing is im not quite sure where is legal or not to use digital type modulation for 477mhz (for example motorola mototrbo).

Usually stick to the Citizen Band (or MCMC called Personal Radio Service on FIFTH SCHEDULE - Refer here
If u are valid ham license, then can utilize ham and citizen band.
Bomba, JPJ n few govt agencies already use called GIRN (GOVERNMENT INTEGRATED RADIO NETWORK), technically u cant hear whatever they transmit even tuned to their frequency (digital, encryption etc2)

thanks!  biggrin.gif skimmed through the fifth sch.

i don't think Community Policing is under GIRN right? Since it's to broadcast emergencies also, somewhat? Not sure what freq. they're on, though.
*
Community Policing? Do u mean like Rukun Tetangga/Skim Rondaan Sukarela? If yes, they usually use Citizen Band (based on what I observed in my area - Setapak, Gombak)
