Suggest me a LauncherPro widget which I can keep track another countries's time and weather.
Otherwise, I might really have to say TWlauncher gives better usability for my usage. Added on November 24, 2010, 9:52 pm QUOTE(boxset @ Nov 24 2010, 09:37 PM) Hello forumers, Update SGS to froyo. Eek! I restarted my SGS for the first time after installing LauncherPro. After a while the whole screen just turned blank but the phone does respond well in background.
Added on November 24, 2010, 10:03 pmRestarted again and LP worked again. Hmm, not entirely stable. This post has been edited by mengsuan: Nov 24 2010, 10:03 PM |

No PM received so far.
I am letting myself use launcherpro for another day before i decide between it and twlauncher. I am still more inclined to twlauncher so far. QUOTE(silentser @ Nov 25 2010, 04:13 AM) whats make you like twLauncher? Not that I dislike LauncherPro. I am alright with its look and functionality. TWLauncher gets the leading edge with its really useful widgets and also it seems to look nicer to my eyes. have you try the modded tw launcher at XDA? or ADW launcer? Added on November 25, 2010, 4:14 am i like quickdesk more... I have seen the modded twlauncher but haven't done it. I'll look into it |

QUOTE(adizul @ Nov 25 2010, 11:01 AM) does anyone know how to connect the phone to PC internet? i mean phone using the PC interernet to transfer data.. Please help.. thank you.. So far only my Windows Mobile PDA can route internet over to phone by activesync. Not applicable for Android of any make now. You can possibly write an app yourself if you want but I am not aware of anyone having interest to do so at the moment on XDA-developers.btw, i'm on froyo.. is there any way? or apps perhaps? |

QUOTE(Bugeca @ Nov 27 2010, 08:52 PM) I did just cakap-cakap only. I had given no help. ------------------------ I am going to install Ya-ok kernel so that twlauncher would be smooth butter. After 4 days of using LauncherPro, I decided that it isn't something I like. The scrolling is smoother but when it lags, it really lags for many seconds. Force closed several times too. I believe Samsung Push IM has complication if TWlauncher is not used (keep signing out). This post has been edited by mengsuan: Nov 27 2010, 09:41 PM |

I think maxis usera cant see protected apps. You need to appear as T-mobile user to see those app in Market. I updated my map to version 4.6 for fun. Not very important I think. |

After downloading YA-OK, I couldn't make up my mind and I just downloaded Speedmod. Lol.. I don't think I need overclocking offered by YA-OK.
Btw, YA-OK users please note that this kernel uses Universal Lagfix 0.3. It is unable to convert dbdata back to RFS on DXJPA firmware. (.513 pit issue). Ironically, Speedmod kernel uses Universal Lagfix pre-0.4, which should have fixed this problem. This post has been edited by mengsuan: Nov 27 2010, 10:34 PM |

QUOTE(| K e e | @ Nov 27 2010, 10:35 PM) personally feel tat YA-OK 1.2ghz drink some juice ... so speedmod should be the best ... Yup, I have already installed Speedmod kernel. Now setting lagfix and waiting for backup. I have set:Data: JFS Cache: JFS dbdata: ext4 I think it should have fast performance without timezone/language bug QUOTE(dannyng @ Nov 27 2010, 10:48 PM) Hi All, +bluetooth keyboard and mouseAfter using official Froyo for 3 days, I'm very dissapointed with Froyo. After all the heap that Froyo will be 4 times faster than Eclair (I remember that i read some where), it is infact 4 times lag. For me stock 2.1 is faster than official 2.2 (both without lag fix) Eg. I do not have anyproblem when dialing a call (using contact --> swipe from left to right) in 2.1 but with 2.2, it take few seconds before it start to dial. Only after I installed/flashed Voodoo, 2.2 is usable. One more thing, in 2.1, the total RAM is around 340mb but now with 2.2, it only 304mb, what????? I thought (again I read somewhere) that 2.2 (Froyo) will increase the RAM in sgs (bear in mind that sgs has 512mb). Nothing special for Froyo. I cannot see any advantage in upgrading to 2.2. Can any sifu out there tell me what is the advantage 2.2 over 2.1? Cheers.... +native screen capture +native cellular data switch (sync will intelligently pause too!) +appears to have better C2DM (Android push) implementation for my email and IM. Even twitter appears to be instantaneous (have to check if twitter really did use C2DM) +flash support on website +neater contacts synchronization (no longer auto-link for user but guaranteed no mistake since user have to link manually) +slightly more convenient USB storage device mounting +colourful icons (bah, I didn't like it) |

It is my experimental scheme. The idea was not to let JFS bug the timezone everytime I restart.
But don't try. The result shows that I still lose timezone in every restart. Now I'm going back to all ext4. Added on November 27, 2010, 11:13 pm QUOTE(ahhon83 @ Nov 27 2010, 11:11 PM) Hi all, wanna ask: Triangle logo is download mode. You can long-press power button to reboot. The correct combination for recovery mode is Vol Up+Home+Power.1. Now in froyo, i only see the triangle logo with downloading words and DO not turn off target!!! after i press vol down+home+power button, what does this mean? Previously i can see some options to select like 1. reboot 2. update via sd card sth sth 3. sth sth.... 2. I'm on DXJPA, i feel it lag, very lag. Or maybe because i didn't install lagfix or sth. Previously using voodoo lagfix on Eclair. IF i want to install speedmod, how should i do it? Or which is the best? like i can see you guys talking about YAOK and K9 speedmod... Thanks for the help! If you used Voodoo, you're spoilt by the swiftness. Speedmod just requires Odin to flash the kernel, quite similar to Voodoo (unless you used update.zip method last time) This post has been edited by mengsuan: Nov 27 2010, 11:13 PM |

I tested both Speedmod K9A 256Hz and 300Hz for an equal amount of time. 300Hz kernel offers smoother animation transition but when there is something working in background, it may be noticeably laggier than 256Hz. Hence now I am on 256Hz kernel and I'm happy with it.
Linux geek should know this Hz thingy is a sacrifice between latency and throughput. No best of both world. To compare with Eclair with Voodoo kernel, I would rate Speedmod with the score of 9 in terms of UI swiftness. Everything is so fast again. With the extra ~40MB RAM, I could run more apps in background. Battery life is fine. I unplugged at 8am, it is 92% remaining now. I have push mail, whatsapp, Twitter and widgets updating itself. Pretty satisfying. One word, Speedmod is excellent to make Froyo as enjoyable as Eclair. |
