So I was playing a friendly match the other day between departments of my company and there was a referee for the match.
I play as a goalkeeper but hardly in a real sized pitch (usually in futsal) and when a long ball comes in I shouted "let go" and then the referee penalized me and said that I can't say that
I said wth? I wasn't aware of such rule and he said FAM recently banned goalkeepers from saying this.
So wtf? I'm wondering is this true or is there such a thing in international world football rules that you can't say "let go"
I looked through the FIFA laws of the game and found nothing like that or maybe I missed out that part =/

Whut? I've never heard such thing @_@!? Unless it's a foul word, cursing, then it's acknowledge but "let go" ? Surely there must be a mistake.

When I started playing when I was 10 (tht was 24 yrs ago) I've known about this. At that time I dunno whether it was real or not, but I've never got penalized for saying it (never actually did say it in a game). But IINM it's not just FAM, but FIFA in general. But then again, the referee shudn't be too strict la, it's just for inter-dept match what, there bound to be some who dunno the rule what...
The general rule in football, if U want the ball, U say,"BALL !!" For keepers, if U want the ball U say,"Keeper !!!". If U want the defence to clear U say,"Away !!!"

as far as i know, if u shout that word to deceive opponent referee can warn u for 'unsporting behaviour'. but lenient referee will not bother..

Yup, it's an official FIFA rule. As posted earlier - it's "unsporting behaviour" because someone can easily shout it to confuse the opponents.
