SX guitars have improve ALOT ever since. MY church bought one SX accoutic guitar and it's sounds good. It has really good attack , very light , comes with Fishman premap and EQ , and best of all ... the workmanship ... wah, can stand up with any Rm5K guitars .... and the best part of all ... it only cost Rm900 + gig bag.

amp nvm, have adee. jz the guitar, willing to spend as min as possible la, since the quality diff not dat high. sumwhere around rm7xx

Normally people will buy a very good high-end guitar first. Some of my friends, they spent like Rm2500++ for an Ibanez Guitar but didn't buy any amp to play with laugh.gif. There's a quote ... "Get a wife first before getting a new house"

After you get your super cun bass guitar, save money and get a small bass amp. If you have enough money, go ahead and buy those 100W bass amps .... at lest you still can bring u're small bass amp around to pratice.

I forgot to mention some of my friends are rich ..... dry.gif

But they have a desire to play guitar, i mean , they know this is the right stuff for them. I think it's ok if you know that this is what you're look for and love to do it forever.

Oh I have such friends too, one of them went for a brand new Fender American Strat and a cheap Squire amp. sad.gif
*
See .... people first timers always tend to spent more on the guitar and pay half the price of the guitar for an amp. I did the same thing too when I first got my guitar, spend more on the guitar ... spend the half the amount on an amp (Fender FrontMan 15W). I think it's because dunno which amp to choose yet .... so i just get a simple small amp first to play around.

Maybe around Rm19xx - Rm23xx.

xnobys, i check with some shops around KL and with some of my friends .... the price for an american made standard strat ranging from Rm18xx to Rm25xx. It's aslo depends on where you buy (either at Bentley Music or some other hidden shops) and which colour model you're planning to get.

Brown Sunburst Standard Stratocaster® with Rosewood Fingerboard is the most expensive one of the Standard Stratocaster® because of it's colour. Well, all Sunburst have to add another $50USD ... but it looks nice.

You might want to ask other forumers here if they know any shops selling cheaper. But take the Rm18xx to Rm25xx as a budget range.

are you sure bout the price of the MIA strat?
the last time i was at bentley they tried to sell me a lefthanded MIA strat for 4k without discount
*
I think it's because you went to Bentley as they are famous for thier "price". I went to Mighty Music at SS2 ... it's around Rm22xx, MIA Strat. Some other shops sells cheaper ... i dunno why, well it's good for us.

Aslo depends what colour you're getting .... as i said above, Sunburst need to add $50USD to $150USD.

You want with amp with that bugget ? Or just the guitar alone ?

SX guitars are affordable with good workmanship plus it plays well. Do goggle around for that brand. You can get a good SX guitar for under Rm2000.

If you can add another Rm200 to your budget, you can get the Squier Deluxe Stratocaster FMT.

Check it out, the guitar was reviewed by me smile.gif

This closeup shows three magnetic pickups on an electric guitar. From left to right they are a humbucker and two single coils.

Usually an electric guitar has more than one magnetic pickup os there will be a combination of pickups is called a pickup configuration. To make life easy, they are usually notated by just writing out the pickup types, using "S" for single-coil and "H" for humbucker, in order from neck pickup to bridge pickup. Some pickup configurations are:
  • S-S (Fender Telecaster)
  • S-S-S (Fender Stratocaster)
  • H-H (Gibson Les Paul)
  • S-S-H (Fender Fat Stratocaster)
  • H-S-H (many superstrats)

Less frequently used configurations are:
  • H (Gibson Les Paul Junior)
  • H-H-H (Some Gibson Les Paul Gold Tops and Customs)

Still blur ? biggrin.gif

Rm500 won't get you a good sounding guitar. Can you add another Rm500 ?

SX Vintage Series Telecaster = Rm590

Ibanez GAX770-BKN (Black) = Rm690

Ibanez GRG150-BKN (Black) = Rm690

Ibanez GRG270-CA (Red) = Rm890

Some "good" guitars you can buy within the Rm500 - Rm1000 range.
