Speaking of which, how's ur brake reservoir Zeng? I remembered u telling us that it's leaking?
*
Yeah the brake oil reservoir seems like the oil spill out from the inside.. But no signs of any new spillage lah.. Maybe too hard driving or hard braking cause the brake oil to boil or what.. blink.gif

QUOTE(xandras @ Jan 10 2011, 01:07 AM)
Honestly speaking, it's not advisable to skim ur brake discs. Wasting money only. Sooner or later ur brake discs will go uneven again. U changed ur brake pads to ceramic brakes? Then u'll have to pair it with better set of brake discs. Original discs suck la.. Senang senang can bengkok la ini la itu la.

I've tried driving in rain over long distance a few times, and I can tell u that heat/cold is another factor that may cause ur brake discs to be uneven. Countless of times it has been, after multiple brakings in rain while drivin long distance, the brake discs bengkok. One more thing, when ur brake discs are hot, NEVER splash water on it. Law of physics, the direct transition from hot to cold is never good for metal stuffs.
*
I sent for car wash they use the jet to spray my disc.. Lagi teruk.. I found out that my brakes have deteriorated a lot.. Its not offering enough braking power for me.. Damn.. Need to change brake pads soon ady.. and my car only run for 5140km..

i think is time to have 2nd bulk purchase for metal king already. smile.gif
*
Bendix Metal King Titanium it is.. tongue.gif For front brakes only ah..

QUOTE(yhanwong @ Jan 10 2011, 08:47 AM)
heh,  are u using the ceramic pad purchase from kelvin?

i got screeching sound on low speed braking (10km/h - 20km/h) like that.  doh.gif damm no face when fetching friends...
*
Maybe u can go to the tire shop and file down the sides of ur brake pads.. Probable solution to ur problem..

QUOTE(Janick1437 @ Jan 10 2011, 08:48 AM)
yeah most probably.. but might be late, wait for me.... since i not that familiar with that place..
*
No probs. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(vektor_sigma @ Jan 10 2011, 11:07 AM)
Recently i go for 5000km service maintenance. They recommend Syn800 as before during 1000km. The problem now is, they fill in all 4 litre of the lubricant, but as saw in another forum, they say suppose they fill in less than that, is it true?

Most of you fill in 4 litre or less?
*
Persona need 3.75L only.. If they pour the the full 4L then its overfilling..

QUOTE(jasondotcom @ Jan 10 2011, 11:24 AM)
anyone here knows what is the original rim offset on stock Persona???
*
Not sure bout persona. Gen2 is +42, saga BLM is +46. Proton uses offset ranging from +42 to +46 only.

thanks zeng.

reason i asked is because i am using offset 40 rims.
*
Since u are using lesser offset.. Do the rims hit the inside wall of the wheel well on full turns?

Ur rims looks like those... How to say... Something like deep dish rims where the nut hole are very much further in from the rim lip.. So lesser offset needed..

Correction:
Gen2 original stock RIM is using offset +46.
[attachmentid=1987534]

if Persona same as Gen2, means the offset should be the same too.
*
oops.. Thanks for the correction.

Brake pad cheap only. Rotor also not so expensive. RM 300/= for both item.

Rotors got so cheap meh?? But good rotors wor...
Dont want halfcut ones..

QUOTE(xandras @ Jan 10 2011, 11:05 PM)
F.Y.I., cheap brake pads & rotors also comes with shorter lifespan. What's the point getting something that's cheaper but lasts half as long compared to a better one?

And even if it's 300 bucks also I cannot afford. Salary not out yet  sweat.gif

Hi all, i just book my Persona B-line MT 2011 today.
I find out the rim is 15" steel. If i want to trade-in with 15" alloy, any good recommendation? or how much it will cost me?

Compare with 15" and 16" rim size, which one is better for persona?
*
It depends lah.. U want better handling and performance go for 16" alloy.. For better appearance go for 17".. Handling will be good enuf too..

when start i turn the key so long to start..coz i normally turn like 1.5 sec then let go..then the engine wil start..recently many times nid to turn 2 times coz 1st time failed to start(misfire??)..last time none of this happen..hehe..i suppose tat is called misfire"?"? or tat one is starter?? haha sry if mistake..tongue.gif
*
Erm thats not called misfire.. Misfire only tends to happen on high speed.. If it happens in low speed then ur engine really needs some tuning..

QUOTE(scattygirl @ Jan 11 2011, 11:58 AM)
17" so big, i just worry when goto hump, the tyre itself will hit the car body.
*
A few forumers have changed to 17" but dont experience such problems..

QUOTE(Janick1437 @ Jan 11 2011, 12:16 PM)
frankly.. i felt a little regret changing from 15" to 16".. i felt the road condition more than when i'm on 15"... but for appearance wise.. its really worth the outlook.. but i din go for 17", the road condition here is very bad, afraid the rims got damage easily when hitting potholes.. that's why i choose 16"
*
Cos when u were on 15" the tire profile is thicker.. So u get more cushioning.. When u changed to 16" u use lower profile.. Automatically the tire gets harder.. Unless u use back the same profile as previous u will feel the road more.. icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(jasondotcom @ Jan 11 2011, 01:53 PM)
OR........ like me.... on 205 45 R17 tires... i am using 29psi still. (ya go ahead and shoot me all you want guys....tongue.gif) been using such air pressure on my previous cars with same tire config except that on a 16inch with no problems... for years. and its as comfy as the stock tires honestly. Those less than 45 series tires may need higher pressure. hell, this is just my opinion though. if u feel its best to have higher air pressure, then by all means go ahead. air pressure preference or recommendation is very highly dependent on driver's personal preference. some like it hard some like it soft. eventhough the tires are thinner, it does not look "flat" due to the thick and stiff side walls. so, rolling resistance is quite minimal as well.

just beware of big potholes though. usually ppl increase air pressure on thinner profile tires to generally protect them in a way... but i dun quite bother since it does not effect me at all. i do not want to ride on a stiffy ride while on thinner tires.

oh btw, smetimes i go off road with such tires as well... so u can imagine how much it does not effect me. tongue.gif
*
29psi!!! icon_question.gif im going into epileptic shock.. tongue.gif Nvm bro.. I know the roads over there.. My mom from sandakan.. 4WD rules those places..

QUOTE(xandras @ Jan 11 2011, 03:17 PM)
Rear tyres yes. Will hit. But u must see aso, Persona wheel arch is kinda big actually. Can fit 19"? (Citation needed)  tongue.gif  Im running on 17", no prob whatsoever..
*
Can fit 19", but the biggest rims with 4holes pcd 114.3 is 18" only.. Unless u mau custom made.. Sunway got the 18" 4H rims.. tongue.gif

QUOTE(scattygirl @ Jan 11 2011, 05:47 PM)
haha...if use ayam brand, new rim, how much it will cost me?
*
Ayam brand Mackeral RM5.20 per can.. Rim size 1.25" only.. haha..
It shd be Taiwan made imitations. A good price indication for u is
16" rims Price starts around 900 for 4rims only
17" rims price starts around 1200 for 4 rims only..
To fit bigger rims u need to buy centre cone, if not ur wheels will vibrate gila babi kuat on high speed..
Tires depends.. Check tire ratings (its on the tire wall).. If u want good handling on wet roads get Traction with AA rating..
The higher the treadwear the better.. But doesnt necessarily means ur tire last longer than lower threadwear tires.
Anything else??

QUOTE(jhbey @ Jan 11 2011, 09:01 PM)
Tot ayam brand only got tuna in can. Never know that they got sell rim also
*
Got lah.. But its gotta be the softest rims ever.. Max load 25kg.. tongue.gif

Bendix?  We'll find comparison for brake pads first.. then only decide which one is better.. These are investments anyway, so might as well dump money on better stuffs rite?

So far Bendix Metal King is very good in most of the review..

a bit confuse, do u mean 15" steel rim + tyre can sell RM800 to RM1k?
Then buy new 16" alloy sport rim cost RM1k to RM1.2k?
Then need to buy 4 new 16" tyres about RM800?
how about balancing and other charges?
*
Yeah.. Normally when they pasang for u they will include the balancing and alignment for u lah.. But make sure u ask them whether its included too.. And ask them if the centre cone is also included.. And other things such as valve, nitrogen gas for tires etc etc.. Ask them give a semua masuk punya harga..

brake pad got few choice

1) trestor advantage blue
2) bendix metal king titanium
3) Rapid Stop (RS Pad)

anymore input?
*
Rapid stop the most expensive. But higher temp rating (550degree)
Trestor price cheapest. But not much review about it. Needs bedding in process.
Bendix, mid price range, sponsored Miss Hypertune so its one 'hot' pad.. And no bedding in time needed.. FnF stopping on plug and play.. biggrin.gif A lot of reviews bout it too.. But dont know whether the review are biased or not..

Is the stopping power good? Never heard of it though.. Although there are a lot of other brands like mintye (good in the start, after that not that effective) and ebc.. These brands are cheaper, but cheap stuffs not always good, and good stuffs not cheap.

my FC ridiculously high. i travel abt 20~30km, it already consumed ~6 litre... my friend said new car like that 1.
huh? i tot new car should be more fuel efficient?
is it normal for PE to have that FC? no?
*
Yeah thats too much... How bout like this.. U pump 1 full tank first.. Then after u use till half tank u refill back till full.. See how much mileage u get.. Then u can calculate how many L/100km..

PE have to wait after 1k and 5k service then the FC will be come very good ady..
