hey guys, i'm having some difficulties in guitar theory currently. i know that striped down to every song there's 7 basic chord in the key, that will definitely match together. but after listening to nirvana's, do they really follows any key in their songs?

as what i mean is i cant find the key of the songs from nirvana. i've been playing pentatonic scale to find a match but cant seems to find any keys thats properly match. most other mainstream songs i could easily find the key by doing the same thing but not these. any idea?

2. Basically, not all songs does that.. those are mainly based on moods, like Like A G6, with all the partying mood, they don;t even follow any keys.. er.. am i right?

do you mean chords alternatives ? what i meant was actually chords in a key, sometimes it include some chords that ins't in that key:

radiohead-creep Gmaj, Bmin, Cmaj, Cmin
key of G (suppose to be Gmaj, Amin, Bmin, Cmaj, Dmaj, Emin, F#dim only in this key)
*which confused me is how come Cmin is in it?

Yes, all songs are not necassary needed to be written with the exact 7 chords in a key. And it's mostly unique from they're gerne of music..
