Actually PS3 can stream any kinda video (including 1080p mkv) to TV

Just make your computer as PS3 Media Server by installing ps3mediaserver.

http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/downloads/list

Then PS3 can play any media inside the pc to TV wirelessly.

Thanks alot for this, seems like the PS3 would be the best choice to go out. Does the PS3 overheat easily?

Heat yes overheat no, a lot of houses would have been scorched by ps3 fire if the latter is really true.

The built in PS3 vent and fan keep it cool quickly (experts in ps3 forum said you dont need extra ventilation fan)

Anyway good decision in choosing PS3, cause not just you can stream your media to ps3, but vice versa.

Your notebook or desktop or even smartphone connected to internet inside the house or away from the house can also stream/access/play media from your PS3 via remote play.
