There's few method to detect the leak. When the water is leaking at a certain point, there will be sound of water leaking. There's a technology that allow us to pinpoint the exact location of the source.

But I would suggest you installing an external pipe as it'll cost more and lots of work needed to be done to get the problem fixed.
