I've tried MF on the 20mm it's different I think. I had to turn the ring a few cycles before I can get in focus. Maybe it's the focus by wire thing on the pancake hmm.gif

I think the manual focus lenses are easier right, not more than 360 degrees since it's mechanical MF ring? Correct me if I'm wrong sweat.gif
*
The feel is different with fly by wire focus..

Of course older MF only lenses are more "accurate" in getting the focus you want since they have a longer travel from infinity to MFD and they are meant to be manually focused after all =p.
Comparing to the likes of AF lenses now, the focus travel can be really short like my tamron 17-50VC(not for m4/3 btw).

But the fly by wire focusing does change focus faster the faster you turn the ring though to a certain limit as to how fast it can go.

olympus always neglect early adopter...

as for my e-p1, i got no port, no new feature etc sad.gif
*
Oly's JPEG engine is better. And the E-PL2 edges the GF2 by a slight margin at higher ISOs

Yeah lo... my E-P2 cant use the penpal thingy... ^^;

This is the bengang part.. how come (not aware about others) Canon for instance.... don't make MLU available as a shortcut. Have to dig so deep into it.

There IS a shortcut actually.. use LV laugh.gif since the mirror will effectively flip up

ask question.

Does GF2 can enable HDR feature ?  (if backlight potrait . how do i set ?)
*
If you don't mind blowing out the details in your background then you can spot meter your subject so that it will be properly exposed.

If you want to preserve the background details/exposure, then you will need to use flash to fill in on the subject.

Dunno about GF2 and HDR features lol.

anyone using external flash for your GF2?

i saw cheap external china made flash on ebay, not sure it's working alright or not.

i'm not really into photography but i appreciate good IQ, so tip top performance for my device is not that important.

Added on July 21, 2011, 9:16 pm
you can even get GF2 single lens for around RM1850 now so i guess GF1 should be less than RM1.5k?
*
Be wary though. It might not come with TTL as most of those cheap china flashes are usually fully manual.

I do know that Nissin makes FourThirds TTL compatible flashes.

wide or half body portrait, and low lights shots, actually alot of use...
*
20mm is not really wide on m43. After applying the crop factor, it is a 40mm equiv which is nearer to a standard prime

But yeah, the 20mm shines in low light given the large aperture. Or if you want faster, there's the PanaLeica 25mm f1.4 brows.gif

Oly also has the E-PL3 with tilting screen but not so sure about the price

The AF on the newer Olys are claimed to be much faster.

waaaa @.@

ahah... actually i like more control buttons.. i see the newer m43 cam all like button-less... really damn nub la.. if u design it in a touchscreen way.. u think that will ease the controls selection.. but ur damn wrong.. it takes more time just to adjust to the specific function... boohooo...

when i use my sis wan lx3.. i feel the buttons all more syok... user-friendly.. change wat settings also a while only.. use touchscreen... have to touch2... then use the wheel rotate around n choose...

like wat sniper said.. later come out newer wan... will have angry bird apps preinstalled... brows.gif
*
Well if you look at the Olympus E-P3, though it does have a touch screen too but the screen is only limited to certain functions and functions which would actually benefit more from a touchscreen IMO.

Using touch screen for AF point is a major boon as you dont have to press more buttons to actually select the intended focus point. Just touch and you're done.

The E-P3 and E-PL3 also still retains the buttons that were present in the previous generation of models which is a good thing.

And you do pay more for the Olympus cameras because they have sensor stabilization laugh.gif

wondering why the pink, brown and red GF3 is so cheap =.=''
written wrongly maybe?

Cheap then get lo...

If you already paid for it, and they say its a mistake you can bring up the case as a consumer for false advertising the price and you might even get it at that price then tongue.gif

can really bring the case up? got once i shopped at pavilion then there's one shop price tag diff with the system but they still charge me with the price of the system sad.gif
*
i read a story from one of the forumers here that one shop was selling a Nikon 85mm f1.4 at the f1.8's price. But when he came back the next day, they changed the price tag. He said he almost got it at that price - the shopkeeper was giving at that price (most prolly blur shopkeeper) but he decided to come back next day but then they changed the price already lol.

E-PL3 price announced already. Retail price of $699 which is similar to the GF3's(with 14mm) retail price when it was announced

But compare 3200 iso on ep-3 abit blur... Compare to gf3.
*
Keyword: abit

If you are gonna resize it down, IMO it won't be that noticeable unless you are looking at 100% crops.

Besides, to be able to have usable shots from ISO 1600 or 3200 on a sensor size like m43 is pretty impressive already.

Even my 40D gets pretty crappy at ISO 3200. And as someone has mentioned earlier, the olympus comes with body stabilization.

If that's not enough, there's the Nokton 25mm f0.95, Panaleica 25mm f1.4, Panny 20mm f1.7 etc.. you get the idea thumbup.gif

Yeah lo.. since the GF3 is like stripped down to the max consumer version, they need another GF1 like camera to silence all the bising-bising i suppose laugh.gif

Ok... Lot ppl told me choose ep-3

GF3 you lose a lot of external buttons and controls. If you are okay with it then by all means get it.
Of course EP-3 is more exp but its looking like the better camera at the moment.

Sony arhh.... erm.. what lens do they have again? Oh right.... only 3 tongue.gif

panny 20mm better or olympus 17mm better?

If you have the budget, then definitely 20mm.

But the 17mm is still a good performer.

Eg. of what you can get with the 17mm =p
Rather old pic though

You should ask the other forumers here as I'm not really aware of the latest market price for the 20mm, but I suppose it falls around that price range.

I got mine used though

Ei... I hav a question... Someone told me that gf2 can use nikon sb600 as a ext flash. How about ep3 ya??

Sorry for noob question.
*
You can use it. But it will be full manual. I've tried using my 580EXII and 430EX on my E-P2 before no probs smile.gif

But with manual M exposure, you will have to enable the viewfinder gain/boost cuz if your ambient exposure is too dark, you wont be able to see anything on the viewfinder/LCD. Hope this helps wink.gif

aperture : f/10

Focal Length : 14mm

ISO : 200

Compo wise, it can be improved.

I don't see anything that grabs my attention in this shot. Just seems like a random snapshot.

There seems to be alot of empty space in the middle (i.e. what are you trying to show? -area of interest/subject)

Just my 2 cents tongue.gif
