That is if you can live without TTL la. If not, might as well get a FL36 or something which has TTL supportMicro Four Thirds (m43) User Thread V3, Panasonic G/GH/GFx & Olympus E-P/E-PLx

This one maintains full electronic contact between Canon EOS mount and m4/3 but costs a bomb.. Like around the price of an E-P3 |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Aug 11 2011, 10:43 AM) http://www.43rumors.com/ft5-at-least-one-n...ut-the-gf7-yet/ But with that zoom range and fast aperture, it has to be pretty big by m43 standards This will be a pretty darn convenient lens. |

The closest thing to that will be the 4/3 version
![]() But, if they can reduce the size like what they did to the m43 version of the 25mm f1.4(4/3 version is hugeee) then it will be tempting |

Adding IBIS would incur higher production costs I assume, thus higher priced prodcuts

QUOTE(Valentino46 @ Aug 14 2011, 01:46 AM) a higher price which i'm sure you & me and many forumers here willing fork out, olympus counterpart doesn't cost that much more anyway,do you ever wished your 20mm f1.7 or the upcoming 12mm f2.0 or perhaps the 45mm f1.8 is stabilized to work better in low light?oops sorry you can't because you are using panasonic body, but panasonic themselves might think the majority others don't give it a damn Lol, who knows their marketing dept might think that by having lower priced products, they can attract more customers.Look at the GF3 and the intended market with so many stuffs stripped out of it. There is one advantage of having lens based stabilization though and that is video. Oly uses software stabilization for video but don't know how effective is that - I never play around with video much to notice. But the thing is, so far there isn't any brand that I know of which offers dual stabilization option at the moment (i.e. having IS lenses as well as stabilized sensor) . Sony (alpha mount) and Pentax do not produce any stabilized lenses. |

P signifies the higher end/the flagship PEN cameras. PL is one step below meaning less features compared to the P series. This post has been edited by raptor_cZn: Sep 1 2011, 09:22 PM |

One thing to note is that the 50mm is a macro lens but of course four thirds lenses are much bigger than their m43 counterparts. Plus the fact that you have to use the adapter adds even more bulk.
