hmm... I had a sudden interest in good rc heli. any good ones to recommend? perhaps a solid RM400 below? (a true beginner also wish that it can be cheaper as long as it isn't stuff like Silverlit PicooZ rc heli) was so stoked and amazed with the 3D capability of rc heli haha. (damn, this is what all noobs crave for when they enter the new world ) any good indoor rc heli to recommend? (it seems like V911 is a hot topic in this thread) I'm a handy person so I do not mind buying kits to build my own as long as they are 'cheap' haha PS:I see leroy87... I see familiar accounts... I sense a closer social bond into the RC community This post has been edited by power911: May 29 2012, 02:13 AM

QUOTE(leroy87 @ May 29 2012, 02:56 PM) lol arent u from the edifier thread or smtg ! haha.. what a small world =) welcome! Added on May 29, 2012, 2:59 pmwell power911, if youre just starting, the most recommeded beginner copter here is the v911 by WLtoys.. since you also like the 911 number, so it suits u well haha..aha, great welcome finally lol XD the V911 feels limited somehow, as in terms of modifications n such... might consider and hopefully it works great for 3D flying indoors. any higher range ones? Added on May 29, 2012, 3:55 pmQUOTE(zeroglyph @ May 29 2012, 02:41 PM) ...and it's also the reason why a lot of people quit the hobby. those stunts are not as easy as it looks. beginners tends to just jump straight to 3D flying and end up with a really expensive paper weight. I don't think I'll quit that easily... perhaps a single trick like parachuting the chopper down would make me happy enough for 5 years LOL been quite sad to see my cheapo helicopter crash down the drain due to sudden strong wind and no control in directions other than up/down and yaw This post has been edited by power911: May 29 2012, 03:58 PM

QUOTE(QiW @ May 29 2012, 04:01 PM) if u wanna 3D with a small size heli (something that lands on your palm) then your choices quite limited .. u will require a ccpm heli ... crashes with a ccpm heli are not as forgiving Added on May 29, 2012, 4:02 pmthe 911 has better controls than u think ... actually what kinda el cheapo heli are u flying ?those coaxials ?? with upper and lower main blades ?? pasar malam rc heli? something like Silverlit PicooZ? not coaxial ones for sure. ccpm... seems close to real heli eh? kinda ok gua crashing these stuff since you wouldn't learn if you do not make mistake (kinda eyeing on Walkera V100D08, not sure if worth investing one... will wait for experts opinion, well just asking la~ ) I shall go with 911 then XD seems like a hotcake for me to buy and begin This post has been edited by power911: May 29 2012, 04:33 PM

QUOTE(kertaznet @ May 31 2012, 12:11 PM) Hi all rc sifu's, I'm getting really interested to play heli rc for the past few weeks & i already spend an hour or so reading all the discussion in this topic (understand nothing at all about the parts bla bla -.-) I see a lot of reply mentioning that v911 heli is kinda good for beginner right? Is it this model? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « i think the heli above is kinda small but youtube videos shows that the heli is kinda fast even though with small battery. Willing to spend around 200~300 and below for the starter heli, what model should i buy? p/s : Damn poisonous heli.. 3d freestyle flight so god damn cool.. currently in the same boat with you. all the pros here recommend me to get the V911 to get used to helicopter basics first and keep 3D flying for future investment. they say 3D flying is superbly hard and it's like skateboarding. Cool but not easy to do, you will give up very easily This post has been edited by power911: May 31 2012, 12:45 PM

QUOTE(zeroglyph @ May 31 2012, 02:02 PM) but unlike skateboarding, crashing can be expensive (especially CP). my advice, learn how to crash properly and it can save a bunch of unnecessary damage. the art of crashing 101: 1. know when you are no longer in control (can't recover anymore) <-- at this point trying to recover will only cause more damage 2. ALWAYS throttle down BEFORE you hit something <--this really saves you rotor head parts and electronics too. 3. quickly deliberate where to crash with the least damage <-- into a bush?, into a tree?, head-on to sofas or wall?, onto tarmac? ehh.... if you break some bones, it's huge sum oso XD

QUOTE(TAGreptiles @ Jun 9 2012, 09:25 PM) Nope. The receiver crystal. The crystal is very sensitive. Breaks when you crash the thing. EDIT: i guess i won't be shelving it anytime soon. Who says whenever the seller says "IC board Rosak" its gonna cost Rm50? I've found the cure to the red light of death! Just need a few electrical items, soldering skills, and the part only costs Rm2. lol ok o.o I tot it was a helicopter for beginners

why not try diy some shockmount like those used for studio microphones for your camera? as far as I know a slight bit of vibration hits the microphone would be recorded loud and clear that's why the shock mount is made I wonder if it will fit the heli This post has been edited by power911: Jun 15 2012, 10:29 PM

not sure if you guys know it already but the hobby store in Paradigm mall at PJ supplies WL V911 with all the spare parts you need for repairs.
ok I'm tempted.
just sharing info
Added on July 9, 2012, 12:16 pmok I don't really get it
what are the differences between WL V911 and Trex 100X?
I see a huge price difference on RM100 the unit looked and feels like the same. everything included is close to similar.
what are the major differences in between them?
