" FAM bukan milik saya. Ia kepunyaan persatuan," katanya. Source: http://www.utusan.com.my

" Kami sudah mengenal pasti akademi bola sepak milik bekas jurulatih Jepun dan legenda Brazil, Zico (Clube de Futebol Zico Sociedade Esportiva - CFZ) di Rio de Janeiro dan satu lagi di Cruzeiro untuk menempatkan skuad ini," katanya kepada Mingguan Malaysia, semalam. i went to the stadium last nite, and must say it was a good performance from our team although the Thais tried so hard to the get the equaliser in the last 10 minutes. they played very well in that period.
our passings were good, defence looked solid and the Indra-Saramsak combination up front looked convincing and more threathening. we only have to draw with Myanmar after this to go to the final. so hopefully we can snatch a point from there.
other result: Indonesia 0-0 Myanmar

yep. tapi tak kisah, we still won it. this is Pesta Bola Merdeka, so better try our best to win it. we used to do that in Tiger Cup few years back, reaching the final by playing U23 players. lost to Indon in the final.

always failed. i was impressed with the Myanmar team. came from no where but ended up winning the trophy. great effort. not a rich country plus facing internal conflicts, but they still managed to come up with great results. and they've been consistent for the past 5 years. Malaysia don't have to follow anyone who's too far, just learn from Myanmar for now.

actually Malaysia didn't play bad in the game against Myanmar. it was a similar story to the final. we had better possession and managed to break Myanmar's defence couple of times, especially in the 1st half. but they played very well defensively and deployed fast and effective counter attacks. the tempo of their game play was quite impressive as well, and all of their players are still under 23.
they even admitted that they've learnt a lot from us especially on coaching, training and other technical sides of football. we actually helped them a lot. the difference is that they benefited every single of it and managed to keep their consistency. we didn't.

QUOTE(Haunkiem @ Nov 17 2006, 02:32 AM) how some Malaysian Chinese greats ? Wong chung wah , Wong hung nung , James Wong , Chow chee keong , kahn hung meng . remember them , f&&*ing great . I met them before when I was a wee lad . Chung Wah was a great guy . u forgot to mention Datuk Soh Chin Aun, the legendary centre back for both M'sia and Selangor. Lim Teong Kim of Kedah was also a very good centre back as well.

enough with Australia. let's just focus on Malaysian football.
kinda agree that as long as our football team doesn't improve significantly, there's no need to send them again to the Asian Games. should've at least produced better results than what they actually had in Doha. and with that kind of form and quality, i don't think we can go far at the Asia Cup, although we're one of the host nations.

consistency is one of the problems here. we used to beat Thailand and Singapore at the Tiger Cup few years ago, with U23 squad. but then everything went wrong. we recovered a bit and started to produce some good results, but then the same bad thing happened again. it's not just about physical, but the players also don't have the right mentality.

Malaysia yang akan bermain dalam pusingan kedua Kumpulan B Kelayakan Olimpik dengan Jepun, Syria dan Bangladesh atau Hong Kong, akan menentang Indonesia untuk menentukan tiket ke perlawanan akhir, hari ini. i dont mean to underestimate S'pore, but it seemed that we always did well against them in the past. not everytime of course. i would be more worry if we face Indonesia. my personal view.
agree that our team didn't play that bad against the Thais. problem is that Malaysia didnt create enough and at the same time failed to capitalize on few great chances they had. Norizan should focus on improving the central midfield and the attack before the semi.

except for the Alam Shah's goal which was a free header, i think our defense did well especially both Khaironnisam and Norhafiz. calm and steady at the back. the truth is that our strikers didn't do well enough to threaten the Singaporean defense. the finishings were just disappointing and the crosses weren't as good as we thought as well.

come back to Malaysia and go for the selection. besides Kit Kong, there're few other players like Chow Chee Weng (hope i spelled correctly ) who's been a regular face for the national team. but again i say that it's nothing to do with races. it's just about who plays better and works harder.

nice pics HangPC2. Nanthakumar was slow in that game and made couple of of risky passes and moves. but he did quite well in winning the ball, which has always been his major strength. that's why Norizan insisted on playing him. This post has been edited by theripper: Jan 25 2007, 03:37 PM

we didn't play a negative game. it's the attack and probably the midfield too that didn't work as effective as they should be. credit to Singapore as well coz they were solid. and yes, with all the hypes about the Singaporean imports, they didn't look to be much stronger than us, and that's why im so proud with our team. not quite sure whether Norizan's men can make an upset in Singapore, but that's always possible.

if Singapore is considered as strong, then we're just as strong as them. nothing separated both teams except the shootout. we played well and created few great chances. the defense were solid except for the goal where the cross should've been blocked/stopped. Khaironnisam and Norhafiz Zamani were impressive imo. luck plays an important role too when it comes to penalty. they were lucky and we were not. congratz to Singapore but i must say that we also deserved to get into the final. still proud of our team although we lost. we didn't import any foreign player, yet we still gave a great fight. there're still many rooms for improvement, and i hope they will.

foreigners are still foreigners, and the intention is to improve and strengthen the team. if not then why they needed to import those players. not enough talents in Singapore perhaps? not the classic Lions that we used to see with Fandi Ahmad, Samad Alapitchay, V. Sundramoorthy etc. and yes, they were without foreigners and still had a great team that time.
i thought with those 'awang import' they would trash us 3 or 4 goals, but ended up winning through penalties. didn't say we played a great game, but Singapore with their imports weren't that good either. for us, nothing to be ashamed.

are Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia etc. much much better when it comes to that either? admit that there're still many weaknesses that should be fixed. but what im proud about the team is that they gave everything in that match although that wasnt good enough to send them through.
yes some of them didnt pass properly, didnt shoot accurately, but at least they did defend their line well. they did create chances and they did attack Singapore. Syamsuri's world class save and solid defence by Khaironnisam and Norhafiz Zamani proved that the right local talents still exist here in Malaysia, although im sure not all 22mil Malaysians are capable of that.
have the right mentality, continue training and working hard, improve their game and always keep their heads down.
