Yes... the learning curve will be too steep for some people. Not many people want to look at inches of manual before they can start enjoying a purchased game.
One cannot purchase the game and start playing it with just keyboard and mouse. The cockpit is very close to the real thing. Every buttons/switches are functional. I can say this game is not for everyone. Till now I still can find anyone play this game near me. Strangely, the Thrustmaster HOTAS was sold out in ALL IT in very short time.
