Im not really a fan of kotobukiya's figures though, nice, but not refined enough. I only have 1 of their figures still in reservation, Sakuya Crimson. They are like 2nd tier figure manufacturers to me. Top tier, you know which companies fall in that category.

Sexy one no problem lah if you go through some mediums to get it; I have Alphamax's 1/6 Saeki Ai (NSFW) and a few other X-rated figures. .

If the parcel is not sent via EMS, and value is under RM 500 it wont get taxed. Again, if you pakat with the seller to label the parcel as "gift" or "souvenir" and dont include any receipt or put any sign that indicate it is an online purchase it will escape tax. but most official stores wont do that for you. If YJA or ebay seller then it's possible. Even sex toys also can pass customs. Only CDs i think is near impossible to avoid customs from opening and checking, if not i'd like to grab some JAV DVDs when i go to Japan as a souvenir or something (i need the case, everything), because it is something you cant find here.

If you go to Japan and buy lots of stuff, and you land in KL, that maybe customs will check and tax you, but it never happend to me bcuz im form penang, and i take transits on purpose (Japan - KL - Penang). When reach Penang, they see it is domestic flight form KL they wont bother to check your bags, and security is very lax.

As far from my experience, never happened before. Many X-rated figures either have cast-off options (and appear fully clothed in box); those that are already partially naked do not have a clear window (or they are factory sealed/taped with a openable cover). If the seller unseal that cover then it wont be considered MISB already, so, only we customers can open it after we buy it. The box illustrations also look normal with random flashbang censors. Native's x-rated figures do not even have illustrations on box, just the name of the figure and some fancy abstract design. My Saeki, even if you open the sealed cover that covers the window, the figure is heavily wrapped with thicker opaque plastic (not the transparent one they insert between parts to prevent paint transfer), only the face is visible.

Swimsuit, bikini, and castoffable figures can still pass customs easily, only those that already naked might be a risk, but the manufacturer themselves made the box design in a way to avoid it.

My preorders not really much, but they are all 'higher tier' figures - GSC's 1/8 Insane BRS, Max Factory's 1/7 Kuroyukihime, Orchid Seed's 1/6 Alleyne... These figures all cost like a bomb =/ At least Alleyne is coming in Jan 2014, but at the moment i have Kotobukiya's 1/6 Sakuya Crimson on reservation, and im hunting for Amakuni's Leviathan - expecting to pay like a boss for it.

That is GSC one; MF one is the naked one with armor

Max Factory's one, somehow the face is very accurate to the original artwork and anime to me - an important factor to me in considering; GSC's one is nice but looks to similar to Kotobukiya's one. And i really like how Koto's version has BABI included

GSC's one will definitely be better than Koto's one in quality (provided they dont screw up); Koto's figures, their finishing is not as refined. If you rub your finger tips gently against the figure surface you will notice. Of course, you have to compare matte surface with matte surface; you cant compare gloss or semi-gloss surfaces. Only that Koto has been doing a good job with those Shining series figures; their sculpt is very accurate.

I havent decided yet, but usually i dun order from japanese sites - i dun have credit/debit card and i order form local websites or stores. I calculated and the price difference isnt much, maybe more exp by 10-15% only if you order from local stores. And i dun haveto worry about having to pay a visit to customs if it gets held (and asking for tax). Even if Amiami gives discount, in the end when you add in shipping fee the total amount you pay for goes back up. I only take advantage of cheaper cost from Japanese sites when they do some sort of sales, get friends's help to buy it.

Yup; I dont like any characters made by Native yet; but im quite interested in Hobby japan/Alter's limited Hyakka Ryouran Figures, and currently saving for Amakuni's Leviathan (7 sins), also exclusive. I need at least 600 bucks to get Leviathan.
Asmodeus (also from 7-sins) is already averaging at 18,000yen in Yahoo Auction Japan. Imagine you want the whole set, you need a month of a doctor's salary to be able to own the whole set.

I went from Gunpla to PVC statues as well (partly thx to all the professionally taken photos of figures you see in blogs, and the fact i began watching almost every single ongoing anime, even now). But my first step was hunting down all the figures i missed. Bad time to start collecting figures back then, budget low and people showing off their BRS, Saber Lily Distant Avalon which just came out around a month or two. I eventually hunted down all of them one by one before they get more expensive. Since then scale figures are almost the only thing i only go for now, nendoroids and gunpla are very minimal is any

My x-rated figures aren't much (many characters i either dont know much or not interested), but my parents had seen them before. Their only question "You like big boobs ah?".

Some rare figures which people from other countries are complaining hard to find (such as in myfigurecollection.net), and expensive in Japanese sites, you can actually find them lying around in old stocks section of some local figure shops without an overpriced price tag.'

Wah, Alter's Gwendolyn, Mercedes and Velvet kinda hard to find. Yahoo Auction Japan might have it, but you'll need an agent/proxy to get it. Still going to end up paying a lot.

Having collected figures all these years i have yet to experience leaning figures. That's not something im worried about. I have lots of standing-on-1-leg figures with dynamic poses, some 3 years old already. My room isnt cool either, 30-33C is normal when i dont on aircond; im usually not at home a lot since im in campus. If your figure is newer than year 2008 it should not be an issue. The only figure with potential of leaning (due to my own fault of breaking a foot peg, and the no-brainer figure pose/peg design itself) and using a figma clash stand to support it is Miku Tony version.

If u r in Australia or California when temperatures hit 40-43C in summer then you should be worried.

If you take care of them (dont expose to direct sunlight too much, and too much heat), 10 years also no problem. All figures nowadays are coated with a transparent anti-oxidant layer. Unless you spill chemical stuff on it or scratch it too much. And many figures nowadays have metal frames inside to prevent leaning, especially those by Alter, GSC, Max, Orchid Seed, etc.

Sometimes exposure to sunlight is inevitable (outdoor photography, even in a hot day), but after that i will soak the figure in clean water for 1-2 minute (cool down the figure first), then enter freezer 3-5 minutes to harden the PVC back. The PVC might have softened a bit (will harden back by itself but takes a few hours, so, harden it back faster by using freezer). After bringing back from outdoor dun put in freezer directly, sudden hot and cold will increase risk of fracture/crack).

I also hate detolfs; my shelves r custom made, wood ones.

I want. You sponsor me lah. Too broke to order anything now (yes, i only need to depoait a percentage, but it still makes me feel guilty for some reason ). Last week, i somehow slapped on another purchase, Max Factory's Asama Tomo (I liked the anime a lot). Amiami selling for only 7***yen (forgot the exact amount) and she was just released back a few days. Including shipping she was like RM 330 only (she'll be going for RM390-430 in local shops). And i still have Kotobukiya's Sakuya Crimson on reservation and GSC's Insane BRS might be releasing next month (most likely will be delayed, anyway).


Most of my figures stay in their box (easier for me to move them around if needed), others in a closed wooden cabinet (less problem with dust since im rarely at home), except just a few. Im planning to change the fluorescent lights in my room to those modern cylindrical bulbs surrounded by aluminium/metal cups which also consume less power (dont know what it's called). Those kind of lights dont emit radiation. If i do outdoor photography then after returning home my figures goes into a short water bath followed by a freezer for a few minutes so that the PVC harden back after being exposed and soften slightly by sunlight.

How much u got Reiko? Local stores normally sell at around RM450. I have Saeki Ai and waiting for Mio to be made. Other charaters i probably will skip.
