but my one is just ask me resuming windows...
ur one only happen when u on the windows and suddenly put out AC or battery...

sure it will harmful n corrupt ur data..
*
well, if u are on the window, suddenly the power out, nothing will lost even the microsoft word u are doing, it will auto recover back.(window 7 did a good job, no more window XP)
but if u are starting ur window, suddenly pull out ac or power off, this will lead to system failure.

I noticed Win7 hibernation and resume function having bugs in it. XP does not have this resume bugs. Vista resume is slow but if not mistaken, does not have Win7 resume bugs.

I have tested on diff notebooks / netbooks..all having problem resuming windows back to working condition. After resume back, it does not restore back original desktop setting and the whole system become slows. Even on high end notebook like A42Ja with 6GB RAM.

One thing I notice too. Recent years notebook (HP and Asus that I'm using) does not keep on charging battery. Once the battery is full, it will stop charging. It will start charing once the battery level drop below 95%.

I have an old HP notebook, DV5000 series. After 4 years, battery still can last 1 hour if not mistaken (need to test it out again to confirm). I never take out the battery and the AC adaptor always connect to the notebook.

The question is the battery quality..how good/long it can holding the power before drop below 95%.
*
Nowadays most of the laptop using lithium cell, so it will discharge itself even though u didnt plug in the battery or use thr battery. So the 95% u mention is depends on how many xell battery or the maximum capacity of the battery. Is dependent variable, which we can give a constant answer.

Where ur laptop a42ja isnt high end laptpp, just a mainstream. My alienware/ desktop serve me well even i hibernate , after resume the desktop i test the benchmark still working like charm. For the bug i did notice where some of the program cant really working well after hibernate

ok, noted (btw, high end notebook for me (i7 CPU) as my low end notebook (umpc) is pentium mobile CPU)

btw, can you do the following hibernation / resume test?

once the notebook go into hebernation, do not resume immediately. Resume after two days. Let me know if it will resume back and work properly or not. Normally, resume immediately after hibernation does not have problem. It is resume after one or two days hibernation then it give problem. XP does not have such issue as I have one system with dual boot: XP and Win7 and the same programs installed. Btw, i have wireless USB mouse connected to the notebook during hibernation/resume.

Just done hibernation for 26 hours, it still working charm ^^

Hmm, people hibernate because they don't want to use the stand by feature or don't have battery to keep the laptop on using the standby mode.

Have anyone here have tried to hibernate when a game like crysis is paused?
*
I tried on metro 2033 on pause, and hibernate, when started up everything find, but the game is not responding d

while your observation is true, i think it is the heat that kill the battery. most new notebook stop charging after it reached 100%. my notebook will not charge if i just use a few % of battery. in battery status i can see "97% not charging" even if i plug in.
*
+1, heat kill battery, kill electronic component.
As new laptop keep plug in also no problem de, and battery dont finish all the power, even though used 10%, charge back to 100%

Thanks for sharing this information. If we standby these problem won't happen right?
For battery, i always take out. So far, my Acer laptop battery works just fine. But my compaq laptop's battery spoiled already.

It really depend on your luck and your action as well. Sometimes, you won't be able to do anything if you are really unlucky.
*
+1, nowadays all brand using same battery even macbook also the same

(according to those articles) it is true that after a large number of cycle of charges, the capacity will drop BUT a complete cycle is not count as how often u charge... say, u have 80% left, charge back to 100%, and do that 5 times, u only complete 1 charge cycle.

icon_rolleyes.gif at least that is how i understand it... and i do practice that...

+1, this is what i highlight in the 1st few page
