Nope, depends on your notebook design...
Some have direct access to GPU and CPU, and some need to open every single bits just to reach there... |

It should be fine as long its a proper shutdown, unless its like sudden shutdown..

1. The netbook reached 3% or 7$ left battery, then it willl start initiate sleep or shutdown
2. or you mean it straight shutdown like laptop with no battery, you just unplug the power adapter ? |

If its not shutdown in a split of seconds, its hibernating most likely and that is fine...
