Yes, I flashed with 3 files together... I did it last time by flashing 3 files together... but this is another board, maybe different...

You need 7z to unzip.
There are 4 files in it; the CODE, MODEM, CSC and PIT513 file.
There is no necessity to put the MODEM into phone and CSC into the csc of Odin3, because CODE tar file already included these 2 items.
Please use PIT513, with Re-partition checked.
If you use PIT512, it will fail.

how can i format my internal sdcard? i found my old apps when i was on JG4 still in it.. im afraid to delete the folder as i might mistakenly delete any important folders

I am on JPD. The best experience ever.

Compared to JPP? JPD feels smoother but no scientific proofs here cause I haven't benchmark or anything. But I think the difference would be marginal. Don't know about GPS, network or anything that's improved or not on this modem. But fluidity of the UI, impressive. I'll try revert back to JPP and see if it's as fluid or not.

Battery life: Hmm, I've had good battery life with JPP but it's very random. With JPD, since this morning, I've played games straight for 7 hours up till now with fully charged battery. Now, it's at 31%. Pretty impressive.

i'm going to try to flash using ODIN, most of you that flash use v1 or v1.3? any difference in steps as highlighted in page 1? by the way, which is better, JPO or JPA or JPD? perhaps reviews on each rom can be placed in page 1? hope im not asking too much, really gian to flash to froyo after reading some of you guys talk about it

All the best, then. Personally, I am using ODIN 1.70 (from Galaxy Tab page on SamFirmware web site, I think) to flash my phone up and down. Am currently testing JPO firmware with speedmod kernel k2r2-200hz (was on JPM with same kernel before, but I got bored after using JPM for 2-3 weeks..).

I'm also curious on JPO vs JPA vs JPD. Read so many conflicting user reports so just randomly chose JPO.

oh one more noob question, im currently on stock JF4, can i still flash to Froyo from Eclair? what about the backups i made on the old ROM, will it restore correctly considering the change in firmware version? sorry need to clear my doubts a bit here

Generally buddy, as a general rule, I give myself a week to try a new firmware, and about 2 days to test a kernel. I'm not the type of user who flashes a firmware, then straight away posts in forum that its super speedy, stable, smooth etc without loading my configuration and installing my apps back. Hangat-hangat tahi ayam means stinky poo..

Kernel-wise, I've never tested Ya-OK, but I've tried Voodoo, Z4Mod, Universal Lagfix, Super Optimized and SpeedMod kernels, respectively. Am sticking with speedmod because I am finding it very balanced - stable and the dev churns out new improved versions regularly. Plus, I kinda stopped liking super-optimized after the dev decided to mess about with overclocking (I don't need this feature, my SGS is powerful enough as it is) - too many users are complaining their phones lock up with the newer >3.6 versions.

Anyway, I don't think the kernels are sucking batt juice so much. As Larry Page of Google mentioned before, most battery issues are due to apps, so I am trying to isolate and find out which apps of mine are battery unfriendly. Am currently suspecting these - K9 email client, TweetDeck or LauncherPro Plus..

P/S Not a rich man by any account, but I do try to do my part in encouraging further development work by the supermen in xda-developers forum. Have donated via paypal to supercurio (voodoo), ryanza (oclf and z4mod), z4ziggy (z4mod), sztupy (universal lagfix), laststufo (super optimized) and hardcore (speedmod). I think if I can spend RM2K+ on a phone, RM10-20 donation per dev is not too much. But this is just my individual philosophy..
